Dangme District is a former district council that was located in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1975. However on 1988, it was split off into two new district assemblies: Dangme East District (capital: Ada Foah) and Dangme West District (capital: Dodowa). The district assembly was located in the eastern part of Greater Accra Region and had Ada Foah as its capital town.

The municipality was located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and had Amasaman as its capital town.

It was later upgraded to municipal district assembly status on 29 February 2008. Another part of the district was split off to become the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal District on 28 June 2012. The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Abokobi as its capital town.

Ga West Municipal District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Ga District in 1988, until part of the district was split off to create Ga East District in 2004; thus the remaining original part was renamed as Ga West District. Another part of the district was split off to become the 1st Ga South District on 29 February 2008 ; while Ga West was later upgraded to municipal district assembly status during that same year. Then another part of the district in the middle of the area was split off to become Ga Central Municipal District on 2012. And most recently, the normal part of the district has split off to become Ga North Municipal District in 2018. The municipality is located in the western part of Greater Accra Region and has Amasaman as its capital town.
