Darling Downs is an outer south-eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, within the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale. The name, referring to the suburb's proximity to the Darling Scarp, was first used as an estate name in 1977, and adopted as a suburb name in 1997. [2]
Most of the area now known as 'Darling Downs' was historically known as 'Wongong' (later 'Wungong'), but the westernmost portion through which Hopkinson Road passes from the 1930s onwards was regarded as part of the Peel Estate in the Group Settlement Scheme.
Darling Downs has no schools inside of it but there are some schools in Byford, Forrestdale, Hammond Park, Armadale, Schools In Byford: West Byford Primary School, Marri Grove Primary School, Byford Secondary School, Salvado Catholic College School In Forrestdale: Carey Baptist College Forrestdale School In Hammond Park: Hammond Park Secondary College Schools In Armadale: Dale Christian School, Neerigen Brook Primary School, John Calvin Christian College, Pioneer Village School, Armadale Education Support Centre.
Since the 1990s, Darling Downs has been in transformation from a rural area mostly comprising hobby farms and a small number of larger land holdings to an outer suburban area of quality housing stock on generous residential lots. Armadale is a suburb of Perth within the City of Armadale, located on the south-eastern edge of the Perth metropolitan region. The major junction of the South Western and Albany Highways, which connect Perth with the South West and Great Southern regions of Western Australia respectively, is located within the suburb. It is also the terminus of the Armadale railway line, one of five major railway lines to service Perth.
The Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale is a local government area in the outer southeastern metropolitan area of Perth, the capital of Western Australia, and has an area of 905 square kilometres (349 sq mi) and a population of 32,173 as at the 2021 Census. Despite being named after two towns in the area neither Serpentine nor Jarrahdale function as either the Shire's largest settlement (Byford) or the seat of government (Mundijong).

Ellenbrook is a northeastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, about 30 km (19 mi) from Perth's central business district (CBD), located within the City of Swan. Ellenbrook, and its neighbouring suburbs of The Vines and Aveley, are unusual for Perth in being a significant distance from neighbouring suburbs. Given this relative isolation and the distance from the CBD, Ellenbrook has been designed and developed as a self-sustainable community. Since the upgrade of Gnangara Road and the completion of the Tonkin Highway Northlink, access to Ellenbrook has improved. The Morley–Ellenbrook railway line is well underway as at June 2021 and this will enable better public transport. At the time of the 2016 census there were 22,681 people living in the gazetted suburb, by June 2018, it was estimated that the urban population for Ellenbrook and surrounds had grown to 41,382. It is envisioned that Ellenbrook will eventually become a satellite city, with a population of 80,000.
