David John Ashford MBE is an independent politician in the Isle of Man. He was born in 1977 in Douglas. [1] He has served as a Member of the House of Keys (MHK) for the Douglas North constituency since 2016.
Previously he had been a Borough Councillor for Douglas. In January 2018 he was appointed as Minister for Health and Social Care succeeding Kate Beecroft. This position was widely described as a "poisoned chalice" due to the department's financial problems.
In February 2020 he was briefly appointed as interim Minister for Home Affairs after the death of Bill Malarkey.
Ashford was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2020 Birthday Honours for services to the Isle of Man during the COVID-19 pandemic. [2]
On 20 May 2022,he resigned from his role as Minister for the Treasury after an employment tribunal ruled that the Isle of Man's medical director,Dr Rosalind Ranson,had been unfairly sacked for being a whistleblower. [3]

The Manx Labour Party is a political party on the Isle of Man that was founded in 1918.
The Council of Ministers is the principal executive organ of the Isle of Man Government. Its role is similar to,though not identical with,that of the Cabinet in the United Kingdom. Until 1990,its title was the Executive Council.

Allan Robert Bell is a Manx politician who was the Chief Minister of the Isle of Man,having been elected to that position on 11 October 2011. He was an Independent Member of the House of Keys for Ramsey from 1984 to September 2016,and served in several different ministerial roles. He was replaced as Chief Minister on 4 October 2016.

John David Qualtrough Cannan was the Member of the House of Keys for Michael and Chairman of the Isle of Man Water Authority. He was the son of former Chaplain of the House of Keys,Rev Canon Charles Cannan. He was educated at King William's College and was a businessman in the tea and rubber industry before going into politics. In the 1970s he was a Conservative Party councillor in England before returning to the Isle of Man and becoming the Michael MHK in 1982. He was elected Speaker of the House of Keys in 2000,and remained as such until the 2001 General Election. He retired from the House of Keys at the 2011 General Election.
The Liberal Vannin Party is a political party in the Isle of Man. It was founded in 2006 by Peter Karran,then an Independent MHK for Onchan. Karran had been,until 2004,a member of the Manx Labour Party. The "Vannin" in the party name is a form of the name of the Isle of Man in the native Manx Gaelic language,while "Liberal" is a reference to the general political position of the party. The party is currently led by Lawrie Hooper MHK.
George Martyn Quayle,MHK was a Manx politician who previously held the position of Minister of Tourism and Leisure in the Isle of Man Government and represented Middle in the House of Keys. He served as minister of the Department of Social Care.

William Mackay Malarkey was a Manx politician,who was elected Liberal Vannin MHK for Douglas South but later defected from the party and sat as an independent. In the 2011 general election he lost his seat to Liberal Vannin candidate Kate Beecroft. He was re-elected at a by-election in May 2015 as an independent candidate,and retained his seat for Douglas South in September 2016.

Allinson serves on the Council of Ministers as the current Minister for the Treasury,having been appointed to the role in May 2022 by Alfred Cannan,the chief minister of the Isle of Man.
