The Decibel Festival was an annual music and digital arts festival in Seattle, Washington, which featured live electronic music performances, visual arts, and new media. [1]
The festival was launched in 2003 by Sean Horton [2] and a team of volunteer staff. The festival consisted of concerts, performances, film screenings, exhibitions, panels, lectures, workshops, and commissioned works across locations throughout Seattle, including the Capitol Hill neighborhood and Downtown Seattle. [1]
Audiences grew from 2,500 to 25,000 over the festival's 12 years. [3]
Following years of unsuccessful efforts to become a non-profit organization, and Horton's move to LA to work for Red Bull, The Decibel Festival ended in 2015. The founder described this as an "extended break." [4]
Since 2015, Decibel has continued to host and promote smaller events, describing itself as "a Los Angeles-based event/production company." [1] These events are chronicled on the organization's social media.
Decibel organized a weekend of events in 2023 to celebrate 20-years of Decibel. The event title was stylized as DecibelXX. [5]
The Decibel Festival hosted over 1,100 acts, ranging from underground dance and experimental electronic music to transmedial art. [1]

Beyond Wonderland is an electronic dance festival organized by Insomniac Events. The event has been held in various locations across the west coast including Seattle, San Bernardino, and Mountain View spanning either one or two days. As the festival continued to grow from its earlier roots, it has branched into two festivals: Beyond Socal and Beyond Norcal/Bay Area, catering to the growing audience. However, this expansion of the Beyond series lasted for only four years before founder Pasquale Rotella announced that he would no longer continue having both Beyond Socal and Norcal to pursue expansion and creation of other festivals of the Insomniac brand.
Spring Awakening Music Festival (SAMF) was an annual electronic dance music (EDM) festival held in Chicago. The festival started at a theater in 2008, moved to Soldier Field in 2012–2015, and to Addams/Medill Park in 2016–2018. In 2019, the festival moved to the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was not held in 2020, and the 2021 event was held in October at Addams/Medill Park. The 2022 festival was scheduled to be held at the United Center on July 8–10, but was subsequently cancelled.
Discwoman is a New York-based collective, booking agency, and event platform representing and showcasing women and non-binary artists in the electronic music community. It was founded in 2014 by Frankie Decaiza Hutchinson, Emma Burgess-Olson (Umfang), and Christine McCharen-Tran. Discwoman aims to address issues of gender imbalance in club and festival lineups.
