Dominique Chauvelier (born 3 August 1956) is a French former long-distance runner who competed in marathons. His greatest international achievement was a bronze medal in the marathon at the 1990 European Athletics Championships. [1]

Born in La Flèche, [2] he represented France at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and was a five-time participant in the marathon at the World Championships in Athletics (1983, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997). He also made four appearances in the marathon at the European Athletics Championships and seven appearances at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. [3] He led the French team to bronze medals at the 1989 World Marathon Cup and 1994 European Marathon Cup.

He was a four-time national champion in the marathon. [4] He holds the French records for the 25,000 m and 30,000 m track events.

Among his wins on the professional circuit were the 1995 BIG 25 Berlin and the 1989 Reims Marathon. He is a five-time champion of the Marvejols-Mende Half Marathon and ran nine times at the New York City Marathon between 1992 and 2006 (his best result being 16th). As of 2016, he continues to compete as a masters category athlete. [3]

Rolando Patricio Vera Rodas is a retired long-distance runner from Ecuador, who represented his native country at three consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1988. José Carlos Adán Arias is a retired Spanish long-distance runner who specialized in cross-country running. He was twice a team bronze medallist at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships and his highest individual placing was 18th, achieved in 1995. In total, he made twelve appearances at the competition, from 1986 to 2002. He also represented his country at the 1993 World Championships in Athletics, placing 16th in the 10,000 metres, and at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, being eliminated in the 10,000 m heats. He twice competed at the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.

Gary Lough is a British male former middle-distance runner. He represented his country at the 1995 World Championships in Athletics, finishing the 1500 metres final in ninth place. He won 1500 m bronze medals internationally at the 1993 Summer Universiade and the 1994 European Cup. He also participated at the 1994 IAAF World Cup and the 1996 European Cup.

Annette Sergent is a French former long-distance runner. She represented her country three times at the Summer Olympics, but it was in cross country running that she had her greatest success. She became the first Frenchwoman to win a world title in the sport at the 1987 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and won for a second time in 1989. Thomas Osano is a Kenyan former long-distance runner who competed across track, road, and cross country running disciplines. Andrew Masai is a Kenyan former long-distance runner who competed in road running and cross country running events. He was one of Kenya's best cross country runners in the late 1980s, taking six team gold medals at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. His best individual finish at that competition was sixth in 1987. He was key to the rise of Kenya in cross country, helping the nation to its first team title and scoring points which helped establish an unbeaten streak in the team race which lasted from 1986 to 2003.

Isabelle Guillot is a French athlete, born in 1961, who is a specialist in Mountain trail running, who runs for the Blagnac Sporting Athletic Club. She began to run conventional distance running athletic competitions later, in 1986, while still a young teacher. She is Co-author of the book Courir Grandeur Nature.

John Barry Nuttall was a British male long-distance runner who competed in track and cross country running. He competed for Great Britain at the 1996 Summer Olympics. He also represented his country twice at the World Championships in Athletics and five times at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. He was a silver medallist at the 1994 IAAF World Cup and a bronze medallist at the 1994 Commonwealth Games.

Mikhail Antonovich Dasko is a Russian former long-distance runner who competed for the Soviet Union and later Russia. He was a bronze medallist at both the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1988 and the 1992 IAAF World Cup. He represented the Soviet Union at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Sławomir Majusiak was a Polish long-distance runner who competed mainly in track running. His greatest achievement was a 5000 metres bronze medal at the 1990 European Athletics Championships. He also represented Poland at the 1989 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and 1991 World Championships in Athletics.

Natalya Sorokivskaya is a Kazakhstani female former long-distance runner who competed for the Soviet Union and later Kazakhstan. She competed in track, road and cross country running disciplines. She holds the Kazakhstani national records from 3000 metres to the 10K run and also the half marathon record.
