The Dumfries & District Amateur Football League (DDAFL) was a football league competition for amateur teams in the Dumfries area of Scotland. It was founded in 1954 and ran through until 2014 when the league disbanded, with member clubs subsequently joining different amateur leagues or the South of Scotland Football League.

Dumfries is a market town and former royal burgh within the Dumfries and Galloway council area of Scotland. It is located near the mouth of the River Nith into the Solway Firth. Dumfries is the traditional county town of the historic county of Dumfriesshire. Dumfries is nicknamed Queen of the South. The nickname has also given name to the town's professional football club. People from Dumfries are known colloquially in the Scots language as Doonhamers.

South of Scotland Football League

The South of Scotland Football League (SoSFL) is a senior football competition based in the south of Scotland. The league is currently composed of 16 member clubs in a single division. It sits at level six on the pyramid system, on a par with the East of Scotland Football League, and acts as a feeder to the Lowland Football League.

History

The league's first championship took place in the 1954–55 season, with Dumfries Amateurs the inaugural victors. The league continued through until 2014 when it was disbanded following its final season featuring only seven clubs. Of these, 2013–14 and final champions Lochmaben joined the North & South Lanarkshire AFA whereas Upper Annandale & Dumfries YMCA became members of the South of Scotland Football League.

North & South Lanarkshire Amateur Football Association

The North & South Lanarkshire Amateur Football Association (NSLAFA) is a football (soccer) league competition for amateur clubs in the Lanarkshire region of Scotland. It was formed in 2008. The association is affiliated to the Scottish Amateur Football Association. As a stand-alone Association and not part of Scotland's pyramid system, the Premier Division does not act as a feeder league and as such there is currently no promotion available.

Upper Annandale F.C.

Upper Annandale Football Club are a football club from the town of Moffat in the Dumfries and Galloway area of Scotland. They originally competed in the Dumfries & District Amateur Football League, but switched to the South of Scotland Football League in time for the 2014–15 season. Home matches are played at Moffat Academy which accommodates approximately 1,000 spectators.They have a young manager Darren Ferbie who has been branded by many as the next Jose Mourinho.

Mid-Annandale Football Club, nicknamed The Mids, are a football club from the town of Lockerbie in the Dumfries and Galloway area of Scotland. They play in the South of Scotland Football League.

Lochar Thistle Football Club are a football club originating in 1969 from the villages of Locharbriggs and Heathhall in the town of Dumfries in Scotland.

Dumfries YMCA F.C.

Dumfries YMCA Football Club are a football club from the town of Dumfries in Scotland. They originally competed in the Dumfries & District Amateur Football League (DDAFL) prior to its disbanding before switching to the South of Scotland Football League for the 2014–15 season. Home matches are played at Dumfries High School in Dumfries.

Abbey Vale F.C.

Abbey Vale Football Club are a football club based in the village of New Abbey in the historical county of Kirkcudbright shire in the Dumfries and Galloway area of Scotland. They started life as an amateur side called Lochvale F.C. in 1971, but as more players joined from the village of New Abbey, the committee decided to change their name and move to New Abbey in 1974. However, to maintain their place in the Dumfries Amateur League, the new side had to maintain the "Vale" in their title, hence the new club became known as Abbey Vale F.C.

Heston Rovers F.C.

Heston Rovers Football Club are a Scottish senior football club who play their home games at Palmerston Park in Dumfries, which they share with Queen of the South. Heston are members of the South of Scotland Football League and D&G Youth Football Development Association league also.

Galabank

Galabank is a football stadium in the town of Annan, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is the home ground of Scottish Professional Football League club Annan Athletic, who have played there since 1953. From 2015 onwards, it is also being shared by Edusport Academy of the South of Scotland League. Another South League team, Mid-Annandale, shared Galabank between 2012 and 2014.
