Dylan Marie Dreyer (born August 2, 1981) [1] is an American television meteorologist working for NBC News. She is also an anchor on Today's 3rd Hour. Dreyer frequently appears on Today on weekdays as a weather correspondent and as a fill-in for Al Roker and Carson Daly. She also appears on The Weather Channel and on NBC Nightly News . Dreyer joined NBC News in September 2012 after having worked at the now former NBC station WHDH in Boston, Massachusetts, since 2007.

Early life and education

Dreyer was born and raised in Manalapan Township, New Jersey, and attended Manalapan High School, where she played softball and graduated in 1999. [2] She earned a bachelor's degree in meteorology from Rutgers University in 2003. [3] While in college, Dreyer briefly interned at WeatherWorks, a private consulting company in Hackettstown, New Jersey.[ citation needed ]

Career

Dreyer has worked at WICU-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania; [4] WJAR in Providence, Rhode Island; [5] and WHDH in Boston, Massachusetts. [6]

Dreyer was in a car crash while en route to cover a blizzard for Today on February 9, 2013, she suffered a mild concussion. [7]

In addition to her meteorological duties, Dreyer is the host of the NBC educational nature program Earth Odyssey with Dylan Dreyer [8] broadcast on The More You Know block of programming on NBC.

Dreyer reported on the 2017 Kentucky Derby and the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. [9] In 2022, she hosted the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time, filling in for Al Roker, who was recovering from blood clots. [10]

Personal life

Dylan married NBC News producer and cameraman Brian Fichera in 2012. [11] They live in the New York area. [12] They have three children [13] [14] [15]

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is an annual parade in New York City presented by the U.S.-based department store chain Macy's. The Parade first took place in 1924, tying it for the second-oldest Thanksgiving parade in the United States with America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit. Weekend editions of Today, an American morning news and talk program that airs daily on NBC, began with the launch of the Sunday edition of the program on September 20, 1987. After NBC expanded Today to seven days a week in the 1990s, the name Weekend Today was adapted primarily for promotional purposes.

Angie Lassman is Italian-American television meteorologist who works for NBC News. She appears on Saturday TODAY with Peter Alexander and Laura Jarrett., MSNBC, and NewsNow. Additionally, she serves as a fill-in for Al Roker and Dylan Dryer. She also appears on NBC Nightly News. Lassman joined NBC News in November 2022 after working at NBC station WTVJ in Miami, Florida since 2016.
