East Gore is an unincorporated community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in East Hants Municipality in Hants County. [1] [2]
The area including the present-day community of East Gore was settled in 1759 as part of the Douglas Township. Gore was named for Sir Charles Stephen Gore, deputy quartermaster general of Canada during the rebellion of 1837. [3]
East Gore is home to Courthouse Hill (formerly Judgement Hill), named for a courthouse which stood on the hill for 90 years or more and was destroyed by fire on July 22, 1956. The hill is now the site of a monument and scenic point where the counties of Hants, Kings, Colchester, Cumberland and Pictou are visible. [4]
Gore is a rural Canadian community in central Hants County, Nova Scotia. It is located just 25 minutes from Elmsdale; 30 minutes from Halifax Stanfield International Airport; and 45 minutes from Truro. It was named after Sir Charles Stephen Gore. The community was settled primarily by the 84th Regiment of Foot.

His two sons died young at age 22 and 27 and are buried in the Saint Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Cemetery, in Maitland.

Local farmers would hold shares in the factory, and would bring their milk to nearby Gore for processing into cheese.
