The City of Knox is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It has an area of 114 square kilometres (44.0 sq mi) and in 2020, Knox had a population of 165,147. This municipality is one of only a handful that survived the widespread municipal amalgamations that occurred in Victoria in the early 1990s.
William Scoresby was an English whaler, Arctic explorer, scientist and clergyman.
Scoresby is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 29 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Knox local government area. Scoresby recorded a population of 6,066 at the 2021 census.

It covers an area of 10,037 square kilometres (3,875 sq mi) in north-eastern Victoria. The largest settlement is the city of Wodonga. Benambra also includes the towns of Baranduda, Barnawartha, Beechworth, Chiltern, Corryong, Eskdale, Kiewa, Mitta Mitta, Mount Beauty, Rutherglen, Tallangatta, Tangambalanga, Tawonga, Wahgunyah, and Yackandandah. Nicholas Wakeling is a former Australian politician. He was a Liberal Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, representing the electorate of Ferntree Gully from 2006 until his defeat at the 2022 Victorian state election.
The electoral district of Lowan is a rural Victorian Legislative Assembly electoral district of the Victorian Parliament. It is located within the Western Victoria Region of the Legislative Council. It was initially created by the Electoral Act Amendment Act 1888, taking effect at the 1889 elections. It is the state’s biggest electorate by area, covering about 41,858 km².
The Electoral district of Scoresby was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was first created after the district of Upper Yarra was abolished in 1945. George Knox was the last member for Upper Yarra and the first for Scoresby. The electorate was abolished after a redistribution in 1976, being replaced by the district of Wantirna. Geoff Hayes then became the first member for Wantirna. After the 2002 redistribution, the electorate was replaced, once again returning as the electoral district of Scoresby. The first member for Scoresby, Kim Wells, was also the last member for Wantirna. The seat was again abolished in 2014 and replaced by Rowville.
Ripon is a single member electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It is a rural electorate based in western Victoria. In 1946 the electoral district of Ripon was first contested but then abolished in the 1955 election after being held by Labor for seven of these years. Ripon was re-created in 1976, essentially as a replacement for Hampden and Kara Kara.

The Electoral district of Wantirna was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was first created after the Electoral district of Scoresby was abolished in 1976. Geoff Hayes was the last member for Scoresby in its first incarnation, and the first for Wantirna. After the 2002 redistribution, the electorate was replaced, once again returning as the Electoral district of Scoresby. The last member of Wantirna, Kim Wells was also the first member for Scoresby, in its second incarnation.
Kimberley Arthur Wells is an Australian politician. He has been a Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since 1992, representing first Wantirna and then Scoresby and Rowville. Wells was the Treasurer of Victoria from December 2010 until March 2013. Wells was born in Leongatha, Victoria, and attended public schools in Bairnsdale, graduating in 1976.
The 2014 Victorian state election, held on Saturday, 29 November 2014, was for the 58th Parliament of Victoria. All 88 seats in the Victorian Legislative Assembly and 40 seats in the Victorian Legislative Council were up for election. The incumbent centre-right Coalition minority government, led by Liberal Party leader and Premier Denis Napthine and National Party leader and Deputy Premier Peter Ryan, was defeated by the centre-left Labor Party opposition, led by Daniel Andrews. The Greens won two lower house seats, their first Legislative Assembly seats in a Victorian state election, whilst increasing their share of upper house seats. The new Andrews Ministry was sworn in on 4 December 2014.
