The England national cricket team is one of the full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC). They are the joint most successful team along with West Indies, having appeared in every edition of the tournament they have won the title twice in 2010 and 2022. [1] [2] While they had been the runners-up in 2016, they had also reached the semifinals of the tournament in 2021. In eight editions, the team has a win-loss record of 25-19 wins in 45 matches.

Joseph Charles Buttler is an English cricketer who is the captain of the England cricket team in limited overs cricket, and previously played for the England Test team. In domestic cricket he represents Lancashire, having previously played for Somerset, and has played in multiple Twenty20 leagues, including for Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Buttler is known for his highly innovative and aggressive batting style, especially in limited over cricket. He was part of the England team that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Under his captaincy, England won the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2013 ICC Champions Trophy final</span> Cricket final

The final of the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy was played on 23 June 2013 between the England and India at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham.This was the 7th ICC Champions Trophy. India won the match by 5 runs England qualified into the final by defeating South Africa in the first semi-final at The Oval, London on 19 June 2013. India made their way into the final after defeating Sri Lanka in the second semi-final played at SWALEC Stadium, Cardiff on 20 June 2013. The match was delayed almost six hours due to rain and started at 16:20 local time, and the match was reduced to 20 overs per innings. So all the rules of this match were the same as a Twenty20 game. It was India's 2nd ICC Champions Trophy championship after the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy. But they had to share the honour with Sri Lanka since this was a joint championship winning. So this was the first time when India won that title individually. In addition India became the second team after Australia to win the ICC Champions Trophy more than one time. Ravindra Jadeja earned the man of the match award for scoring 33 runs and taking 2 wickets in the match. Shikhar Dhawan was named the man of the series for scoring 363 runs in the tournament.

The Sri Lanka national cricket team toured England from 13 May to 24 June 2014 for a Twenty20 International (T20I), five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Test matches against the England cricket team. They also played three one-day and one four-day tour matches against English county sides, as well as preceding the entire tour with a two-match ODI series against Ireland. Sri Lanka won the Test series 1–0, the ODI series 3–2 and the one-off T20I.

The England cricket team toured Australia during the 2013–14 season from 31 October 2013 to 2 February 2014. The series included the traditional five Tests for The Ashes, and also featured five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals (T20Is).

The 2017–18 Trans-Tasman Tri-Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that was held in Australia and New Zealand in February 2018. It was a tri-nation series between Australia, England and New Zealand. It followed on from England's tour of Australia, which included the 2017–18 Ashes series, and took the place of the planned Chappell–Hadlee Trophy series. It was the first T20I tri-series contested by full ICC members.

The Australian cricket team toured England in June 2018 to play five One Day International (ODIs) and one Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Ahead of the ODIs, Australia played List A matches against Sussex and Middlesex. This was Australia's first international tour following the Australian ball tampering scandal as well as Tim Paine's first series as captain in ODIs.

The England cricket team toured the West Indies between January and March 2019 to play three Tests, five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The series included England's first Test match in Saint Lucia, when they played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. It was also England's first tour to the West Indies to play all three formats of international cricket since they visited in 2009. The ODI fixtures were part of both teams' preparation for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

The Pakistan cricket team toured England in May 2019 to play five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and one Twenty20 International (T20I) match ahead of the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The fixtures were part of both teams' preparation for the tournament. Three matches were played against English county sides as part of the tour, with 50-over matches played against Kent and Northants, and a Twenty20 match played against Leicestershire.

The Australia cricket team toured England to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches in September 2020. The ODI matches formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. Originally, the matches were scheduled to take place in July 2020, but were moved back to September 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 14 August 2020, Cricket Australia named a touring squad of 21 players, after gaining government exemptions to travel to the United Kingdom. The T20Is were played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, the ODIs were played at Old Trafford in Manchester, with all the fixtures played behind closed doors.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup final</span> Cricket match

The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup final was a Twenty20 International cricket match played at MCG in Melbourne, Australia on 13 November 2022 to determine the winner of the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. It was played between England and Pakistan, with both the teams eyeing their second ICC Men's T20 World Cup title. England won the match by 5 wickets to win the title for the second time. Having also won the 2019 Cricket World Cup Final, England became the first men's team to hold the ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup titles at the same time.

The England cricket team toured South Africa during November and December 2020 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. However, the ODI matches were called off due to a COVID-19 outbreak. The ODI series would have formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
