The Gymnastics Club «Ergotelis» Heraklion Crete, commonly known simply as Ergotelis, is a Greek professional football club, department of the multi-sport club Gymnastics Club Ergotelis, which is based in Heraklion, Crete. It is the club's oldest and most successful department, officially established in 1929 and named after the famous ancient Cretan expatriate Olympic runner Ergoteles of Himera. The club currently competes in the Super League 2, the second tier of the Greek football league system, and hosts its home games at the Pankritio Stadium, the city's largest and most modern sports venue.

The club was founded in December 1961. In 2011, they were promoted to the Gamma Ethniki, the third tier of the Greek football league system, for the first time in their history by finishing 1st in Group 10 of the 2010–11 Delta Ethniki. The club currently competes in the amateur Heraklion FCA Α2 Division, and hosts its home games at the Gergeri Municipal Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 600 spectators.
The Cretan derby, also called Heraklion Derby or The Battle of Crete is an association football rivalry between Ergotelis and OFI, the two teams that have represented the city of Heraklion, Crete in the Greek Super League. Although the term "Cretan derby" has been used to describe almost every match-up between football clubs from Crete on any level of the Greek football league system, the OFI-Ergotelis rivalry is the most iconic, since it involves the two most prestigious clubs on the island and its roots can be traced back to the early days of Greek professional football.

The club is named after Mount Juktas, overlooking the town of Archanes. The club was founded in 1957 and its traditional colors are green and white. They currently compete in the Gamma Ethniki, the third tier of the Greek football league system, and host their home games in the Archanes National Stadium, known also as “Markomichelakio Stadium”. They have previously played for two seasons in the Gamma Ethniki during 2013-15.
Irodotos Football Club, short for Podosferikós Athlitikós Sýllogos Alikarnassoú Iródotos and also simply known as Irodotos, is a Greek football club, based in Nea Alikarnassos, Heraklion. The club is named after the ancient historian Herodotus, descended from Halicarnassus, Asia Minor, whose bust is also used as the club logo. Irodotos was established in 1932 by refugees from Asia Minor, who were displaced following the Greco-Turkish War in 1922. By acclamation, Irodotos is considered the third most successful club in Heraklion in terms of achievements, due to its consistent presence in the Second and Third national divisions, but has maintained a considerable fan base, and a longstanding rivalry with local Superleague side OFI, despite the fact the two haven't met in national competitions for almost 30 years. The club currently competes in the Football League, the second tier of the Greek football league system, while also administering amateur men's football and basketball departments. In the past it also had departments for wrestling, cycling, women's football and athletics. Its colours are blue and white.
Enosi Atromitou Rethymniakou, more commonly known as EAR, was a Greek football club based in Rethymno, Crete and was part of the EAR multi-sport club. Throughout its history of 16 years, the club played nine seasons in Beta Ethniki, the second tier of the Greek football league system and came very close to promote to top tier during the 1993–94 season, a feat that has never been matched by other Rethymno clubs to this day. EAR eventually shutdown the football department in 1999.

It is the oldest and most successful football club representing the town of Ierapetra, hometown of one of the greatest Cretan players of all time: Petros Vouzounerakis, of whom the club's home ground is named after.

P.A.N.O. Malia F.C., also known as PANOM, short for Podosferikós Athlitikós Naftikós Ómilos Malíon is a Greek amateur football club, based in Malia, Heraklion, on the island of Crete, Greece. They currently play in the local Heraklion FCA A1 Division and host their home games at the local Malia Stadium. They've enjoyed relative success in the early 2000s, having won the Greek Football Amateur Cup in 2000 under coach Giannis Petrakis. They have previously played once in the Gamma Ethniki, the third tier of the Greek football league system during the 2004−05 season, and have also played several seasons in the country's now defunct 4th National Division.
