The Greek football league system includes five levels in which teams can possibly make it to the Super League 1, Greece's highest division of football.

Greek Football Professional Cup: Levels 1 to 3
Greek Football Amateur Cup: Level 4

Promotion and relegation

Super League 1: Bottom two clubs are relegated to the Super League 2.
Super League 2: Bottom two clubs are relegated to the Football League.
Football League : Top two clubs of the Football League in the end are promoted to Super League 2. Bottom four relegated to the Gamma Ethniki.
Gamma Ethniki: The champions of each group are promoted to the Football League. The bottom twenty nine teams of are relegated to the local championships.
Local championships: The top team in each regional league is entered into the promotional play-offs with other regions. The two winners of each group are promoted to the respective group in the Gamma Ethniki.

The Gymnastics Club «Ergotelis» Heraklion Crete, commonly known simply as Ergotelis, is a Greek professional football club, department of the multi-sport club Gymnastics Club Ergotelis, which is based in Heraklion, Crete. It is the club's oldest and most successful department, officially established in 1929 and named after the famous ancient Cretan expatriate Olympic runner Ergoteles of Himera. Irodotos FC Football club

Irodotos Football Club, short for Podosferikós Athlitikós Sýllogos Alikarnassoú Iródotos and also simply known as Irodotos, is a Greek football club, based in Nea Alikarnassos, Heraklion. The club is named after the ancient historian Herodotus, descended from Halicarnassus, Asia Minor, whose bust is also used as the club logo. Irodotos was established in 1932 by refugees from Asia Minor, who were displaced following the Greco-Turkish War in 1922. By acclamation, Irodotos is considered the third most successful club in Heraklion in terms of achievements, due to its consistent presence in the Second and Third national divisions, but has maintained a considerable fan base, and a longstanding rivalry with local Superleague side OFI, despite the fact the two haven't met in national competitions for almost 30 years. The club currently competes in the Football League, the second tier of the Greek football league system, while also administering amateur men's football and basketball departments.
