Euabalong station opened on 10 February 1919 when the Broken Hill line was extended from Condobolin to Trida. [1] [2]

Euabalong West is served by NSW TrainLink's weekly Outback Xplorer between Sydney and Broken Hill. [3] It is also served by NSW TrainLink road coach services from Condobolin to Cootamundra. [4]

Journey Beyond's weekly Indian Pacific passes Euabalong West but does not stop at the station. [5]

Euabalong West is a small town on the Broken Hill Railway Line that was founded to serve the residents of nearby Euabalong, which was a crossing point for the Lachlan River founded in the 1870s. The town has approximately 70 people, and its main industries are cropping, grazing, and railway-related employment.

The Mount Hope railway briefly connected the Broken Hill railway line with Mount Hope, New South Wales, Australia. The copper mine for which this branch was constructed to service ceased full-time operations four months before the line was opened. After a bare five years, the branch itself was closed—possibly the first step of rationalisation to be practiced by the New South Wales Government Railways.
