FC Iberia 1999 (formerly known as FC Saburtalo) is a Georgian football club, [1] based in Tbilisi, the capital of the country.

History

Saburtalo was founded on 20 August 1999, in Tbilisi. [2] In 2005, the club was bought by Iberia Business Group and its owner Tariel Khechikashvili, who later became the Minister of Sport & Youth Affairs of Georgia.

Saburtalo has one of the top football academies in the country. [2] The club has a full-size stadium, called Bendela, with the capacity of 1,800 spectators. [2]

In March 2016, Manolo Hierro was appointed as the sporting director of the club. [3]

Saburtalo is the name of one of Tbilisi's districts. On 27 February 2024, the team's name was changed to Iberia 1999. [4] [5]

The 2023 season was the 100th season in the existence of Dinamo Batumi and their fifth successive season in the Erovnuli Liga, the top division of Georgian football. In addition to the domestic league, this year the club participated in the national cup, the Georgian Super Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League.

The 2023 season was Dila's 72nd year in existence and 13th successive season in the first-tier Georgian football. Along with all members of the national league, the club competed in David Kipiani Cup. As the bronze medal winners of the previous league season, Dila also took part in UEFA Europa Conference League and the Georgian Super Cup.

In the 2022–23 season, Partizani Tirana competed in the Kategoria Superiore for the tenth consecutive season. In that season, the club won their 17th championship title, and their first after four years.

The 2024 season is the 101st year in the existence of Dinamo Batumi and their sixth successive season in the Erovnuli Liga, the top division of Georgian football. As the reigning league champions, Dinamo Batumi are participating in five competitions this season, namely the Erovnuli Liga, the national cup, the Georgian Super Cup, UEFA Champions League and, after an early exit from the latter, in UEFA Conference League.
