In 2000, the Kazakhstan Football Federation became a candidate member of UEFA, and obtained its full membership on 25 April 2002 at the UEFA Congress in Stockholm, Sweden. [1] [2] This resulted in Ordabasy and the other domestic teams from Kazakhstan switching to the UEFA club competitions.

Roman Nesterenko is an association footballer from Kazakhstan. He plays as a goalkeeper and has played for nine different clubs as well as the Kazakhstan national football team, for whom he has two caps. Despite playing for Kazakhstan at international level, Nesterenko was born in Ukraine and has actually spent more of his career there than with clubs in Kazakhstan.

The 2014 FC Aktobe season was the 14th successive season that the club playing in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest tier of association football in Kazakhstan. Aktobe were the reigning Champions, having won the 2013 title, but failed to retain their crowning, finishing second behind Champions FC Astana. They reached the final of the Kazakhstan Cup and the Play-off Round of the Europa League before falling to Legia Warsaw.

The 2015 FC Astana season is the seventh successive season that the club will play in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest tier of association football in Kazakhstan.Astana is the reigning Kazakhstan Premier League champion, having won the title for the first time the previous season. They will also participate in the Kazakhstan Cup and the Champions League, entering at the Second Qualifying Stage.

The 2015 FC Kairat season is the 5th successive season that the club playing in the Kazakhstan Premier League, the highest tier of association football in Kazakhstan, since their promotion back to the top flight in 2009. Kairat were defending Premier League Champions, and finished the season in Third place this time round. In the domestic cups, Kairat finished Third in the Super Cup and won the Kazakhstan Cup. In Europe, Kairat were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the Second qualifying round, the Europa League in the Third qualifying round and the Europa Conference League at the end of the group stage.
