Flower Hill is a ghost town in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. It is located three miles southeast of Smithville, 19 miles southeast of the town of Bastrop and 49 miles southeast of Austin.

Founded by emancipated slaves, the town is one of 13 known "Freedom Colonies," in the county. [1]

In 1907, Flower Hill had a one-teacher school for fifty-four black students. When a district system was created in 1921, the school was probably absorbed by the Smithville Independent School District. In the 1940s, a church, a cemetery and a handful of houses marked the town on county highway maps. By the 1980s, only the cemetery remained. [2]

Rockne is an unincorporated community in Bastrop County, Texas, United States. It was named after Knute Rockne. In 1931, the children of Sacred Heart School were given the opportunity to name their town. A vote was taken, with the children electing to name the town after Rockne, who had died in a plane crash earlier that year. On March 10, 1988, Rockne opened its post office for one day, during which a Knute Rockne twenty-two-cent commemorative stamp was issued. A life size bust of Rockne was unveiled on March 4, 2006 and sits in front of the Rockne Museum.
