Galaxy Digital LP, doing business as Galaxy, is an American investment firm based in New York. The firm focuses on investments related to cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. It was founded in 2018 by billionaire Michael Novogratz. [1]

Background

In February 2018, Galaxy was founded by Fortress Investment Group co-founder Michael Novogratz. [2]

Galaxy Digital Holdings Ltd. is one of the few cryptocurrency companies required to publish financial results. In the first nine months of 2018, the company lost $136 million in cryptocurrency trading. [3] In 2017, Galaxy Digital contributed to an $80 million funding round for technology company Bitfury. [4]

On August 3, 2018, Galaxy Digital went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

During the FTX collapse, Galaxy Digital made $1 billion buying discounted Solana tokens. [5]

In May 2025, trading began on the NASDAQ. [6]
