Gijs Jan van Dijk [a] (born 11 October 1980) is a Dutch politician and former union leader. He was a member of the House of Representatives for the Labour Party between 23 March 2017 and 8 February 2022. [1]

Contents

He resigned from the lower house after accusations of undesirable behaviour in the private sphere. [2] A research bureau hired by the party concluded that he had displayed norm-breaking behaviour in and outside the private sphere. [3] Discussion arose about these conclusions and the handling of the investigation by the Labour Party. [4] [5] In several articles it was discussed whether behavior of politicians in the private sphere should always be part of the public discourse. [6] [7] A commission dedicated to the case concluded that the matter was private and should have stayed that way; his party PvdA made apologies and welcomed Van Dijk back.

The first Kok cabinet, also called the first Purple cabinet was the executive branch of the Dutch government from 22 August 1994 until 3 August 1998. The parliamentary inquiry into natural gas extraction Groningen was a parliamentary inquiry by the Dutch House of Representatives between 2021 and 2023 and was investigating the natural gas extraction from the Groningen gas field and the problems that it caused. The goal of the inquiry was to gain insight into decision-making regarding natural gas extraction, earthquakes, damage handling and reinforcement of buildings.

Olger van Dijk is a Dutch politician of the New Social Contract (NSC) party who has served as a member of the House of Representatives since 2023.
