Good Vibes is an American adult animated sitcom created by David Gordon Green and Brad Ableson and Mike Clements for MTV. The series follows the exploits of recent New Jersey transplant Mondo and his new best friend Woodie as they live their life in Playa Del Toro, a fictional Southern California beach town. The show was originally sold to Fox in 2008, and a pilot produced. When Fox passed, the producers looked for other buyers and in 2010 they received a series order at MTV.

Adult animation, adult cartoon or mature animation, is any type of animated motion work that is mainly targeted towards adults and older adolescents, as opposed to children or all-ages audiences. Works in this genre may be considered adult for any number of reasons, such as complex themes, sexual or suggestive content, graphic violence, profane language or dark humor. David Gordon Green American film director and writer

David Gordon Green is an American filmmaker. He has directed dramas such as George Washington (2000), All the Real Girls (2003), and Snow Angels (2007), as well as the thriller Undertow (2004), all of which he wrote or co-wrote. In 2008, he transitioned into comedy, directing the films Pineapple Express (2008), Your Highness and The Sitter, as well as episodes of the HBO comedy Eastbound & Down (2009–13). In 2013, he returned to his more dramatic roots with the independent films Prince Avalanche and Joe. Since then, he has directed the films Manglehorn (2014), Our Brand Is Crisis (2015), Stronger (2017), and episodes of the television comedy-drama Red Oaks (2014–2017), on which he also serves as executive producer. Green directed the eleventh installment in the Halloween franchise, which he co-wrote with frequent collaborator Danny McBride, and which takes place forty years after the events of the original 1978 film.

MTV American pay television channel

MTV is an American pay television channel that serves as the flagship property of owner Viacom Media Networks and headquartered in New York City. The channel was launched on August 1, 1981, and originally aired music videos as guided by television personalities known as "video jockeys" (VJs). At first, MTV's main target demographic was young adults, but today it is primarily teenagers, particularly high school and college students.

Reception

Good Vibes received mixed reviews from critics. Some, like San Francisco Chronicle's David Wiegand found its writing to be "juvenile, hormonal and often pretty dang funny", [3] while Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Rob Owen branded it "aggressively dumb, sex-obsessed and occasionally misogynistic". [4] In its review of the first season, the AV Club criticized the pilot, praised later episodes and expressed optimism towards the series' future, mentioning that "this isn’t a recommendation exactly—there are still a few too many problems with the surface level of the show—but the undercarriage is sound, and it wouldn’t be surprising if this developed into a surprisingly sweet and winning little show given enough time". [5]
