"Gwenpool: Totally In Continuity" is a five-issue existentialist comic book graphic novel written by Christopher Hastings and drawn by Gurihiru as the third volume of Unbelievable Gwenpool . [1] Published by Marvel Comics, the story revolves around Gwen Poole as she takes on mercenary work following the disbandment of the Agents of M.O.D.O.K., encountering Blade and Wade Wilson, the latter while trapped in a Dungeons & Dragons -based death game by Arcade along with her former team, and later Robbie Reyes and Kate Bishop, while attempting to find Cecil a new body. [2] [3] The volume also includes the 2016 anthology Gwenpool Holiday Special: Merry Mix-Up , set during Head of M.O.D.O.K. and following Gwen, Big Ronnie, Fin Fang Foom, Galactus, the Red Skull, Frank Castle, and Miles Morales as they react to a world without Christmas. Gwen and Kate's platonic partnership established in this series would be continued in West Coast Avengers , It's Jeff! , and Gwenpool (2025), where the duo adopt and raise Jeff the Land-Shark.
Divided into the parallel storylines "Gwenpool's Unbelievable Christmas (a.k.a. the Gwenpool Holiday Special For Real This Time)", "I Saw Spidey Kissing Galactus, The Bringer of Gifts", "The War on Pantsgiving", and "Happy Hydra Holidays", and set during the events of Head of M.O.D.O.K. , the storylines follow Gwen Poole, Big Ronnie, Fin Fang Foom, Galactus, the Red Skull, Frank Castle, and Miles Morales as they react to a world suddenly without Christmas; in "The War on Pantsgiving", referencing the original concept for Firebreather , Ronnie and Foom are revealed to be in a relationship. [4]
Following the disbandment of the Agents of M.O.D.O.K. and end of her "status quo" at the conclusion of Head of M.O.D.O.K., Gwen takes on random freelance mercenary work from Big Ronnie. After being hired by the Mayor of Doodkill to defend his village from a vampire (who turns out to be the dhampir Blade, who nicknames Gwen "Pink Slayer"), in a Buffy the Vampire Slayer -inspired adventure, Gwen wakes up in a Dungeons & Dragons -inspired dungeon with the rest of her former team, the supervillain Arcade having brought together different mercenaries to participate in a death game, facing off against Wade Wilson. Following this, seeking to find her ghost friend Cecil a new body, Gwen ends up portalling to Los Angeles, teaming up with Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes) and Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) against a continent of dwarves. On returning to New York, seeking out whether the Marvel Universe has versions of her family (after seeing a real version of its mayor on television) living at her old house, in a cliffhanger, Gwen is shocked to find her actual brother Teddy there, also transported to the Marvel Universe, leading into "Gwenpool: Beyond the Fourth Wall". The volume received universally positive reviews. [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]
