H. Richard Greene (sometimes credited as "Richard Greene") is an American film, television, and stage actor, acting coach, and guest professor at UCLA.
Greene has appeared in TV shows such as Matlock , According to Jim, Ally McBeal, Boston Legal, Cold Case, The Mentalist , NYPD Blue , Cybill , The Wonder Years, and as Senator Robert Royce on The West Wing .
He also appeared on Mad Men , earning positive reviews for his role. [1] [2]
Greene portrayed "Cary Russell", the name derived from Cary Grant and Jane Russell but the character itself a parody of Bruce Willis's character David Addison in Moonlighting, in the penultimate and controversial episode of Riptide called "If You Can't Beat Em, Join Em" shortly before its cancellation, in part due to being beaten in the ratings by Moonlighting. [3] [4] This episode drew a lot of press attention at the time, with both Entertainment Tonight and the Los Angeles Times running features on the episode. [5] [6] Interestingly enough, he would later appear in the actual Moonlighting as a different character.
He has appeared in several TV movies, including Journey of the Heart (1997), and a few feature films, including a small role in the summer blockbuster Armageddon (1998).
In his New York debut, he received critical acclaim as MacDuff in Macbeth with Rip Torn and Geraldine Page. His Broadway credits include The Survivor, Romeo and Juliet, and the international tour of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs , directed by Gene Saks. [7] [8] [9] [10] He was a resident member of the Repertory Theatre of Lincoln Center, and portrayed The Headmaster in The Ahmanson's production of The History Boys on the West Coast.
His voice work includes narrating an episode of the children's TV program, Rugrats.
Greene provided the English voice of Hot Coldman in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and the voice of James Johnson in Metal Gear Solid 2: Digital Graphic Novel .
He is a guest professor at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. [10]
He married actress Lynn Milgrim in 1980.[ citation needed ] The two had recurring roles as Jim and Evelyn Cooper, Winnie Cooper's parents, on The Wonder Years .

Moonlighting is an American comedy drama television series that aired on ABC from March 3, 1985, to May 14, 1989. The network aired a total of 67 episodes. Starring Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis as private detectives, Allyce Beasley as their quirky receptionist, and Curtis Armstrong as a temp worker, the show was a mixture of drama, comedy, mystery, and romance, and was considered to be one of the first successful and influential examples of comedy drama, or "dramedy", emerging as a distinct television genre. The show's theme song was co-written and performed by jazz singer Al Jarreau and became a hit. The show is also credited with making Willis a star and relaunching Shepherd's career after a string of lackluster projects. In 1997, the episode "The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice" was ranked number 34 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time. Mad Movies with the L.A. Connection is a 1985 syndicated television show produced by the comedy troupe the L.A. Connection. Every episode is a spoof of a classic movie where the video is the original but all the dialogue is overdubbed with humorous dialogue written and voiced by the L.A. Connection, in a manner similar to Woody Allen's feature-length film What's Up, Tiger Lily?. During one season, 26 half-hour episodes were produced. Before producing the series, the L.A.
