Chatswood railway station is a railway station located in the Sydney suburb of Chatswood. It is served by Sydney Trains services; the T1 North Shore & Western Line and the T9 Northern Line, and the Sydney Metro's North West & Bankstown Line.
The Rail Clearways Programme was conceived in 2004 with the aim of easing congestion of Sydney's suburban railway network, by reducing the amount of infrastructure shared by multiple services. The disparate projects at pinch points throughout the network were designed to increase passenger capacity and improve reliability. All projects were delivered by the Transport Construction Authority until it was subsumed in November 2011 by Transport for New South Wales. A new timetable was introduced in October 2013 that realised the benefit of many of the projects, and by January 2014—the programme was complete.

Sydney Metro Northwest was a rapid transit project that constructed the first section of the Metro North West Line through the north-western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The project included the conversion of the existing Epping to Chatswood rail link to metro standards and connects the suburbs of Rouse Hill and Chatswood via Castle Hill and Epping. The project was managed by Transport for NSW. The completed Metro North West Line opened on 26 May 2019.

Kellyville railway station is an elevated station on the Metro North West & Bankstown Line, as part of the Sydney Metro network. The station was built by Impregilo-Salini and Metro Trains Sydney for Transport for NSW, and is situated along Samantha Riley Drive, Kellyville, in Sydney, Australia. Train services from the station run to Rouse Hill and Chatswood, with a journey time to Chatswood of around 33 minutes. As the New South Wales Government's Sydney's Rail Future strategy is delivered over the next 20 years, services are expected to be extended to the Sydney central business district (CBD) and Bankstown. Kellyville Station opened on 26 May 2019.
The Sydney Metro is a fully automated rapid transit system in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It currently consists of the Metro North West & Bankstown Line, running between Tallawong and Sydenham and consisting of 21 stations on 52 km (32.3 mi) of twin tracks, mostly underground. The first stage of the line opened on 26 May 2019, running between Tallawong and Chatswood. This line was extended from Chatswood to Sydenham on 19 August 2024 as part of the first stage of the City & Southwest project. The second stage of the project will then further extend this line to Bankstown as part of a partial conversion of the existing Bankstown Line with a scheduled completion in 2025.
The Inner West & Leppington Line is a commuter rail service currently operated by Sydney Trains, serving the inner west and south-western regions of Sydney, Australia. Consisting of 37 stops, the service commences from the City Circle, then heads west to Granville. The line branches at this point; services either head northwest to Parramatta or south to Leppington. A third terminus at Homebush is used when the part-time Parramatta branch isn't operating. The line commenced operations on 26 November 2017, replacing the T2 Airport, Inner West & South Line.

Tallawong railway station is a Sydney Metro station near the intersection of Cudgegong and Schofield Roads in Tallawong, New South Wales, Australia. The station is the terminus of the Metro North West & Bankstown Line on the Sydney Metro network. Beyond the station to the west lies the Tallawong depot, where metro rolling stock is stabled.
Sydney Metro City & Southwest is a 30-kilometre (19 mi) rapid transit construction project in Sydney, Australia. The line is part of the Sydney Metro network and its first phase opened on 19 August 2024. The project extended the Metro North West Line from Chatswood on the North Shore, to Bankstown in the city's southwest via the Sydney central business district.
Metro Trains Sydney Pty Ltd (MTS) is the operator of the Sydney Metro. It is a joint venture between Hong Kong-based MTR Corporation, John Holland Group and UGL Rail formed in September 2014. It operates the network with a fleet of 45 Alstom Metropolis trains under a 15-year contract.

The first and currently only line on the Sydney Metro network, it commenced operation on 26 May 2019, originally running between Tallawong and Chatswood, before the line was extended on 19 August 2024 to Sydenham.
