Himalafurca is a small genus of south Asian sheet weavers. It was first described by A. V. Tanasevitch in 2021, [2] and it has only been found in Nepal. [1] As of December 2021 [update] it contains only two species: H. martensi and H. schawalleri . [1]
Linyphiidae, spiders commonly known as sheet weavers, or money spiders is a family of very small spiders comprising 4706 described species in 620 genera worldwide. This makes Linyphiidae the second largest family of spiders after the Salticidae. The family is poorly understood due to their small body size and wide distribution; new genera and species are still being discovered throughout the world. The newest such genus is Himalafurca from Nepal, formally described in April 2021 by Tanasevitch. Since it is so difficult to identify such tiny spiders, there are regular changes in taxonomy as species are combined or divided.
Halorates is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by J. E. Hull in 1911.
Helsdingenia is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by Michael I. Saaristo & A. V. Tanasevitch in 2003. The name is a reference to Dr. P. J van Helsdingen.
Ascetophantes is a monotypic genus of Asian dwarf spiders containing the single species, Ascetophantes asceticus. It was first described by A. V. Tanasevitch & Michael I. Saaristo in 2006, and has only been found in Nepal.
Claviphantes is a genus of Asian dwarf spiders that was first described by A. V. Tanasevitch & Michael I. Saaristo in 2006. As of May 2019 it contains only two species, both found in Nepal: C. bifurcatoides and C. bifurcatus.
Epigytholus is a monotypic genus of Asian dwarf spiders containing the single species, Epigytholus kaszabi. It was first described by A. V. Tanasevitch in 1996, and has only been found in Mongolia and Russia.
Episolder is a monotypic genus of Asian dwarf spiders containing the single species, Episolder finitimus. It was first described by A. V. Tanasevitch in 1996, and has only been found in Russia.
Fistulaphantes is a monotypic genus of Asian dwarf spiders containing the single species, Fistulaphantes canalis. It was first described by A. V. Tanasevitch & Michael I. Saaristo in 2006, and has only been found in Nepal.
Himalaphantes is a genus of Asian dwarf spiders that was first described by A. V. Tanasevitch in 1992.
Houshenzinus is a genus of East Asian dwarf spiders that was first described by A. V. Tanasevitch in 2006. As of May 2019 it contains only three species, found in China: H. rimosus, H. tengchongensis, and H. xiaolongha.
Indophantes is a genus of Asian dwarf spiders that was first described by Michael I. Saaristo & A. V. Tanasevitch in 2003.
Mitrager is a genus of Asian dwarf spiders that was first described by P. J. van Helsdingen in 1985.
Nasoona is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by G. H. Locket in 1982.
Oedothorax is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by A. Förster & Philipp Bertkau in 1883.
Piniphantes is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by Michael I. Saaristo & A. V. Tanasevitch in 1996.
Spiralophantes is a monotypic genus of Asian sheet weavers containing the single species, Spiralophantes mirabilis. It was first described by A. V. Tanasevitch & Michael I. Saaristo in 2006, and has only been found in Nepal.
Parbatthorax is a small genus of Asian sheet weavers first described by A. V. Tanasevitch in 2019. As of April 2022 it contains only two species: P. proiectus and P. unicornis. Its appearance resembles members of Gongylidioides and Glebala, but it can be distinguished by the unique shape of its carapace and a highly modified palpal tibia and paracymbium. The genus name is a combination of the Parbat District, where the first specimen was found, and the "thorax", whose unique shape is one of its distinguishing factors.
Erigomicronus is a genus of sheet weavers erected by A. V. Tanasevitch in 2018 for two east Asian species. In the following week, B. K. Seo published the new genus Collis for three Korean species. Further investigation revealed that all five belonged to the same genus, and preferences was given to the one published mere days before the other.
