Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel is a British singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is the recipient of three Brit Awards, four Grammy Awards, and an MTV Video Music Award, with sold 20 million albums or singles sold by October 2011. He signed with record producer Trevor Horn's ZTT Records to release his eponymous debut studio album (1991). Met with critical and commercial success, it spawned the singles "Crazy" and "Killer", which peaked at numbers two and one on the UK singles chart, respectively, while both entered the US Billboard Hot 100. "Drift Away" is a song by Mentor Williams, written in 1970 and originally recorded by British singer Mike Berry on his 1972 album Drift Away. A version by John Henry Kurtz was released two months later in November 1972. Mentor Williams was a country songwriter, and John Henry Kurtz was an actor and swamp rock singer. It was later given to soul singer Dobie Gray for whom it became a surprise international hit. "Prayer for the Dying" is a song by British musician Seal and Augustus Lundell "Gus" Isidore. It was released on 9 May 1994 by ZTT and Sire as the lead single from the singer's second studio album, Seal (1994), reaching number 14 on the UK Singles Chart and number 21 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In Canada, it became Seal's first of three songs to peak at number two on the RPM Top Singles chart, becoming his joint highest-charting single in Canada. In November 1995, "Prayer for the Dying" was reissued as a double A-side with "Don't Cry" in the UK; this release reached number 51 on the UK chart. Its music video was directed by Paul Boyd.

Dan Seals was an American country music artist. Formerly one half of the soft rock duo England Dan & John Ford Coley, Seals split from the duo in 1980 and began a country music career. As a solo artist, Seals released 13 studio albums, six compilation albums, and 37 singles. Eleven of his singles reached number one on the U.S. Billboard country singles charts, including nine consecutive number ones between 1985 and 1989. Seals' best-selling album in the U.S. is 1987's The Best, certified platinum by the RIAA.

Released to generally positive reviews, "Human" has since become a Top 10 Adult Pop hit in the United States, as well as her third and final top 40 entry on the Billboard Hot 100. It was certified Platinum by RIAA in June 2014.
