The International Emmy Award for Best Kids: Live-Action is presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS) to the best live-action programs intended for young audiences, produced and initially aired outside of the United States. It was first presented in 2020 at the 9th International Emmy Kids Awards.

Contents

The International Emmy Kids Awards were presented in a separate annual ceremonies until 2021. In 2022, the kids categories were presented at the 50th International Emmy Awards alongside rest of the categories.

From 1983 to 2011, productions intended for young audiences compited in a category named Best Children & Young People. In 2012, six kids-specific categories were created. [1] From 2012 to 2019, the categories for Kids: TV Movie / Mini-Series and Kids: Series were presented.

Rules and regulations

According to the rules of the International Academy, the category is for "a fictional production (comedy, drama, or sitcom) intended for a young audience". [2] If the program submitted is a standalone TV Movie, it must fit the minimum format length of a televised half-hour time slot (i.e. 20+ minutes of content).

The International Emmy Award for Best Telenovela is presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS) and recognizes excellence in telenovelas produced and initially aired outside of the United States. The first International Emmy for telenovela was presented at the 36th International Emmy Awards Gala in 2008 in New York City.

The International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series is presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS) during the International Emmy Awards ceremony. The category is described on the official International Academy website as being open to drama series which are "a dramatic production in which theme, storyline, and main characters are presented under the same title, with the intention to develop beyond a first season." The award was first given in 2002, for the awards covering programmes screened in 2001. From 1979 to 2001, the category Best Drama was presented.

The International Emmy Kids Awards, founded in New York City in 2013, recognize excellence in international children's programming produced initially outside the United States, and are presented annually by International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. <span class="mw-page-title-main">72nd Primetime Emmy Awards</span> 2020 American television programming awards

The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards honored the best in American prime time television programming from June 1, 2019, until May 31, 2020, as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The ceremony was originally to be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was instead hosted from the Staples Center, while winners gave speeches remotely from their homes or other locations. It aired live on September 20, 2020, following the 72nd Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 14–17 and 19. During the ceremony, Emmy Awards were handed out in 23 categories. The ceremony was produced by Done and Dusted, directed by Hamish Hamilton, and broadcast in the United States by ABC. Jimmy Kimmel served as host for the third time.

The 72nd Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards honored the best in artistic and technical achievement in American prime time television programming from June 1, 2019, until May 31, 2020, as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The awards were presented across five ceremonies; the first four were held on September 14 through 17, 2020, and were streamed online, while the fifth was held on September 19 and broadcast on FXX. They were presented in a virtual ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic; Nicole Byer hosted the event. A total of 106 Creative Arts Emmys were presented across 100 categories. The ceremonies preceded the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards, held on September 20.

The 50th International Emmy Awards ceremony took place on November 21, 2022, at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel in New York City, recognizing excellence in television programs produced and aired originally outside the United States, and U.S. primetime programs in languages other than English between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021. The award ceremony, presented by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS) was hosted by Penn Jillette. The nominations were announced on September 29, 2022.
