The International Emmy Award for Best Kids: Animation is presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS) to the best animated programs intended for young audiences, produced and initially aired outside of the United States. It was first presented in 2012 at the 1st International Emmy Kids Awards.
The International Emmy Kids Awards were presented in a separate annual ceremonies until 2021. In 2022, the kids categories were presented at the 50th International Emmy Awards alongside the rest of the categories.
From 1983 to 2011, productions intended for young audiences compited in a category named Best Children & Young People. In 2012, six kids-specific categories were created including Kids: Animation. [1] From 2012 to 2019, a category named 'Kids: Preschool was also presented.
According to the rules of the International Academy, the category is for "any program intended for a young audience in which animation figures in no less than 75 percent of the program, this may include fiction or nonfiction". [2]

The Daytime Emmy Awards, or Daytime Emmys, are part of the extensive range of Emmy Awards for artistic and technical merit for the American television industry. Bestowed by the New York-based National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), the Daytime Emmys are presented in recognition of excellence in American daytime television programming. The first ceremony was held in 1974, expanding what was originally a prime time-themed Emmy Award. Ceremonies generally are held in May or June.

The award was first given in 2002, for the awards covering programmes screened in 2001. From 1979 to 2001, the category Best Drama was presented.
Tumble Leaf is an American animated series that premiered in 2014 on Amazon Prime Video. It is stop motion for preschool-aged children and it is based on the short film Miro. Created by animator Drew Hodges and stop-motion studio Bix Pix Entertainment, Tumble Leaf features an anthropomorphic blue fox named Fig and his caterpillar friend Stick, along with other residents of the island of Tumble Leaf, helping preschoolers learn basic science lessons through playful examples. Additional regular characters include Maple, Hedge, Pine, Ginkgo, Rutabaga, Zucchini, and Butternut & Squash. Each episode consists of two 11-minute stories with Fig learning the mechanics of various items discovered in a special room on board the abandoned shipwreck where he resides.

Bestowed by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), the Children's and Family Emmys are presented in recognition of excellence in American children's and family-oriented television programming. The first ceremony took place on December 10 and 11, 2022, at Wilshire Ebell Theatre, Los Angeles. Awards for children's programming are offshoots of categories that were previously presented at both the Daytime Emmys and the Primetime Emmys.
The 50th International Emmy Awards ceremony took place on November 21, 2022, at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel in New York City, recognizing excellence in television programs produced and aired originally outside the United States, and U.S. primetime programs in languages other than English between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021. The award ceremony, presented by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS) was hosted by Penn Jillette. The nominations were announced on September 29, 2022.

The eligibility period ran from June 1, 2022, to May 31, 2023, mirroring that of the Primetime Emmy Awards.
