"It Just Won't Do" is a song by English DJ and producer Tim Deluxe, featuring English singer Sam Obernik on vocals. The track, a Latin-inspired house song, [1] was written and produced by Tim Deluxe and co-written by Ben Onono. The song contains a prominent trumpet riff performed by Simon Finch. Following exposure at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, Florida, [2] the song gained popularity in dance clubs and was eventually released as a standalone single through Underwater Records on 8 July 2002. The song was later included on Tim Deluxe's debut studio album, The Little Ginger Club Kid, in 2004.
"It Just Won't Do" became Deluxe's and Obernik's highest-charting single in the UK, peaking at number 14 on the UK Singles Chart. In Europe, it became a top-10 hit in Hungary, the Netherlands, and Spain, and it topped the European Dance Traxx chart for 14 weeks, tying the record for the longest stay at number one on this ranking. In Australia, the track reached number 13 and was certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). The song was nominated for two awards: Track of the Season at the 2002 DJ Awards and the Ivors Dance Award in 2003, winning the former accolade.
Reviewing the song in June 2002, British trade paper Music Week noted the song's "sledgehammer bassline" and its "fiery vocal and trumpet line". [2] In his weekly UK chart commentary, James Masterton called "It Just Won't Do" a "proper" dance song but dismissed its commercial appeal. [3] In a review for The Little Ginger Club Kid, Jason Birchmeier of AllMusic labelled the track "killer". [4] In 2002, Tim Deluxe won the DJ Award for Track of the Season for this song, and the following year, it was nominated for the Ivors Dance Award, losing to "Lazy" by X-Press 2. [5] [6]
In the United Kingdom, "It Just Won't Do" became a mainstay on radio throughout mid-2002. [3] Following its physical release, it debuted and peaked at number 14 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming Tim Deluxe's only top-40 UK hit and Sam Obernik's first. The single spent seven weeks in the top 100, giving both musicians their longest-charting hit. [7] [8] In Ireland, the song peaked at number 26 on the Irish Singles Chart and remained in the top 30 for three weeks. [9] It became a top-10 hit in the Netherlands and Spain, peaking at number six on the Dutch Top 40, number 10 on the Dutch Single Top 100, and number seven on Spain's PROMUSICAE chart. Across the rest of Europe, "It Just Won't Do" entered the top 20 in the Flanders region of Belgium and appeared within the lower reaches of the charts in France, Germany, and Switzerland. [14] It became a significant dance hit, topping Music & Media 's Dance Traxx chart for 14 weeks and tying the record for the most weeks spent at number one on this ranking, along with Roger Sanchez's "Another Chance". [15] On the Eurochart Hot 100, the single reached number 55 in late July. [16] In 2006, the track charted in Hungary, peaking at number eight on the Single Top 40. [17] It also found success in Australia, where it peaked at number 13 on the ARIA Singles Chart, topped the ARIA Club Chart, and earned a gold certification for shipping over 35,000 copies in Australia alone. "Mesmerize" is a song by American rapper Ja Rule. It was released on December 16, 2002, as the second single from his fourth studio, album The Last Temptation (2002). Containing a sample from the 1974 song "Stop, Look, Listen " by Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye, the song was produced by Irv Gotti and features R&B artist Ashanti. The song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 2003, making it Ashanti's and Ja Rule's fourth top-10 hit as a duet.
"Work It" is a single by American rapper Nelly featuring American singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake. It was released on February 24, 2003, as the fourth single from Nelly's 2002 album, Nellyville. It peaked at number 68 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number seven on the UK Singles Chart.
"Heaven" is a song by the Canadian singer and songwriter Bryan Adams recorded in 1983, written by Adams and Jim Vallance. It first appeared on the A Night in Heaven soundtrack album the same year and was later included on Adams' album Reckless in 1984. It was released as the third single from Reckless and reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in June 1985, over a year and a half after the song first appeared on record. The single was certified Gold in Canada in 1985.
"Let Me Blow Ya Mind" is a song by American rapper Eve featuring American singer Gwen Stefani of No Doubt. It was released on April 2, 2001, as the second and final single from the former's second album, Scorpion. It became Eve's highest-charting single on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number two on the week of August 18, 2001. Worldwide, the song reached number 29 in Canada, number four in Australia and the United Kingdom, and number one in Belgium, Ireland, Norway, and Switzerland.
"Dip It Low" is a song by American singer Christina Milian from her second studio album, It's About Time (2004). Written by Poli Paul and Teedra Moses and produced by Paul, the track was released as the album's lead single. Matt Ward and Dean Gallard provided additional production for the song with Ne-Yo working on vocal arrangements. While the original version of the song, featuring American rapper Fabolous, was only given a release in the United States, Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, the remix featuring German rapper Samy Deluxe was released in Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland. "Dance for Me" is a song by American singer Mary J. Blige featuring American rapper Ahkim Miller from Blige's fifth studio album, No More Drama (2001). Produced by Dame Grease, the track was written by the artists alongside Bruce Miller with an additional writing credit going to Sting for the sampling of the 1979 song "The Bed's Too Big Without You" by English rock band the Police. For the No More Drama 2002 re-release, the version featuring Ahkim Miller was replaced with the more widely-known version featuring Common. The subsequent single release was the version with Common.
"Move Your Feet" is a song by Danish pop duo Junior Senior from their debut studio album, D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat (2002). The song, originally released in June 2002 in the duo's native Denmark, was issued worldwide in 2003 and became Junior Senior's biggest hit, reaching No. 4 in Denmark, No. 3 in the United Kingdom, and No. 20 in Australia. A music video for the song, directed by British art collective Shynola, was created using low-resolution pixel art. The song was sampled in Nicki Minaj's 2023 song "Everybody".
"Round Round" is a song performed by British girl group Sugababes. It was written by group members Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena, and Heidi Range, as well as Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins, Tim Powell, Nick Coler, and Lisa Cowling. It samples the song "Tango Forte" by German production team Dublex Inc., so the songwriters of that track are credited as well. Produced by Kevin Bacon and Jonathan Quarmby, the song was released as the second single from the group's second studio album, Angels with Dirty Faces (2002).
"Who Do You Love Now?" is a song performed by Australian singer Dannii Minogue and Dutch DJs Zki & Dobre, performing under the group name Riva. The track began originally as an instrumental-only called "Stringer", which soon became a club hit. The record was released on 19 November 2001 through the Double F Double R label. It was later adapted into a vocal version for Minogue, written by Victoria Horn. For the Canadian market, Minogue recorded a French-language version of the song called "Est-ce que tu m'aimes encore?". The single was cancelled in Canada but was later released in France as the B-side to "I Begin to Wonder". Initially released as a stand-alone single, the song was later included on Minogue's 2003 album Neon Nights.
"Strawberry Kisses" is a song written by Jeff Franzel, Andy Marvel, and Marjorie Maye. It was produced by Chong Lim for Australian teen singer Nikki Webster, which also appears on her first album, Follow Your Heart (2001). It was released as the album's lead single on 11 June 2001 in Australia as a three-track CD single and in May 2002 in the United Kingdom with an additional track. Webster stated the song is "fresh, really bright and chirpy", and also said, "After I first heard the demo, I was singing it that night and I just thought that's a fantastic sign of a good song - something people remember".
"Girlfriend" is a pop and hip hop song by American boy band NSYNC. It was released on January 14, 2002, as the third single from their fourth studio album Celebrity. It was the group's last song to enter the top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number five. "Girlfriend" additionally reached number one in Canada and charted within the top 10 in six other countries, including Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom. This was the last single and song the band released in their career before their reunion in 2023.
"Touch Me" is a song by Portuguese house music producer Rui da Silva and British singer-songwriter Cassandra Fox. The song began to gain popularity after being played in dance clubs in October 2000. The track was originally scheduled for release in December 2000, but it was postponed to avoid competing with songs that would experience sales surges resulting from the Christmas holiday period. It was eventually released on 1 January 2001.
"Make Luv" is a song by Italian music producer Room 5, which features the sampled voice of American R&B singer Oliver Cheatham from his 1983 hit "Get Down Saturday Night". Released in March 2003, "Make Luv" reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart, where it remained for four weeks in March and April 2003. The song also reached the top 10 in Denmark, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Romania.
"What's Luv?" is a song by American rapper Fat Joe, released through Atlantic Records and Fat Joe's Terror Squad Productions as the second single from his fourth studio album, Jealous Ones Still Envy (J.O.S.E.) (2001). The song features additional vocals from singer Ashanti and from rapper Ja Rule on the remix and album version on the song. "What's Luv" was produced by Irv Gotti and Chink Santana. The lyrics of the song's chorus are based in part on the title refrain of the 1984 Tina Turner hit "What's Love Got to Do with It". The song additionally includes a lyric that references the 1998 song "Still Not a Player" by Big Pun. Fat Joe, Ja Rule, and the song's two producers are credited as the writers of "What's Luv", as are Big Pun and the lyricist of "What's Love Got to Do with It", Terry Britten.

"I Need a Girl (Part One)" is a single by American rapper P. Diddy featuring Usher and Loon from the album We Invented the Remix. In 2004, the song was featured on the Bad Boys compilation R&B Hits. Along with "I Need a Girl (Part Two)", P. Diddy achieved a rare occurrence by having two parts of a song become chart hits. Part one peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart. It also charted on the UK Singles Chart at number four. The song was ranked number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 year-end chart in 2002. The song contains a chord progression played on a Roland JV-1080 sound module, using a patch named "Flying Waltz".
"Starlight" is the debut single of French house musician the Supermen Lovers, featuring Mani Hoffman on lead vocals. The female vocals on the song were performed by Israeli singer-songwriter Nili. The song contains a sample of "The Rock" (1978) by disco assemblage East Coast. "Starlight" was released as the first single from Atlan's debut album, The Player, on 17 March 2001. It became a hit in Norway, New Zealand, and Wallonia, where it reached the top 10, and peaked at number two in France and the United Kingdom.
"Livin' It Up" is a song by American rapper Ja Rule featuring singer Case, released in July 2001 through Def Jam Recordings and Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. Records, as the lead single from Ja Rule's third studio album, Pain Is Love (2001). The song, produced by Lil Rob and Irv Gotti, samples Stevie Wonder's 1982 song "Do I Do". In the United States, "Livin' It Up" peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100. It received a re-issue in the United Kingdom in 2002 and peaked at number five on the UK Singles Chart. Retired NBA All-Star Baron Davis and former pornographic actress Sunny Leone make appearances in the video.
Tim Liken, also known by his stage name as Tim Deluxe, is a British DJ and producer. He is best known for the song "It Just Won't Do", which charted in many countries.
