Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association is an organisation that runs cricket in Jammu and Kashmir. It fields the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team in the Ranji Trophy domestic tournament. [1] It is a member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. [2]

JKCA's home ground is the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, which has held One Day International matches in the past. [3] [4] The association is currently constructing an indoor academy at the stadium, which is also its headquarters. JKCA's current president is Imran Ansari. [5] [6] With the implementation of Lodha Committee report by Supreme Court, Imran Ansari was forced to resign from the post of JKCA President. Though initially Ansari ignored SC ruling [7] but later had to resign. Currently JKCA is run by two retired judges who were appointed administrators by J&K High Court. [8] The two administrators are helped by Chief Executive Officer Syed Ashqiue Bukhari a former DIG J&K Police who was also appointed by J&K High Court. In accordance with Lodha Committee recommendations, the new redrafted constitution of JKCA was recently registered by J&K Registrar of Society. In the constitution club has been abolished while as Districts have been given voting rights. [9]

JKCA(Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association) scam

Between 2011 and 2012, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had given Rs 112 crore for promotion of cricket in Jammu and Kashmir. It has been alleged that there has been a misappropriation of Rs 46.3 crore by the accused. In 2015, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed by two cricketers- Majid Yaqoob Dar and Nissar Ahmad Khan - into the alleged scam in the JKCA that had surfaced in 2012, following which the account of the JKCA remained frozen.

The case was subsequently handed over to the CBI, to investigate the alleged embezzlement of funds in the cricket association which was headed by Abdullah. the CBI filed a chargesheet against Abdullah in the case. National Conference assured complete cooperation on behalf of its chief, Farooq Abdullah, after the latter was chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) scam. The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), headquartered at Indore, India, is the governing body of cricket activities in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and the Madhya Pradesh cricket team. The board was formed in 1940 as the Holkar Cricket Association.

Imran Raza Ansari is a politician and religious scholar succeeding his father Iftikhar Hussain Ansari after later's death. He won elections from the Pattan constituency and was nominated as Minister of Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports.

C K Nandan is a cricket umpire and former player.His playing career included three first-class matches for Karnataka, over a period from 1983 to 1988. He made his umpiring debut in 1999, and has since umpired in various Indian domestic competitions, including Ranji Trophy and Indian Premier League matches.

Abdul Qayoom Bagaw is an Indian former first-class cricketer who played for Jammu and Kashmir. Qayoom was regarded as the finest fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir. He worked as a coach for the state association after his playing career.

Iqra Rasool cricketer

Iqra Rasool is an Indian cricketer and also known as 'Baramulla's supergirl'. She hails from Dangiwacha, Rafiabad located in North Kashmir and represented Jammu and Kashmir at the U-19 and U-23 level.

Popular sports in Jammu and Kashmir include cricket and football along with sports like golf, winter sports, water sports and adventure sports. Jammu and Kashmir has produced international and national level players including Gul Dev, Aamir Aziz, Chain Singh, Iqra Rasool, Mehrajuddin Wadoo, Mithun Manhas, Abid Nabi, Parvez Rasool, Tajamal Islam and Palak Kaur.

2019–20 Ranji Trophy Group C Cricket tournament

The 2019–20 Ranji Trophy was the 86th season of the Ranji Trophy, the first-class cricket tournament that took place in India. It was contested by 38 teams, divided into four groups, with ten teams in Group C. The group stage ran from 9 December 2019 to 15 February 2020. The top two teams in Group C progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition.

The 2019–20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was the eleventh season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket tournament in India. It was contested by 38 teams, divided into five groups, with eight teams in Group E. The group stage started on 8 November 2019. The top two teams from Group E progressed to the Super League section of the competition. Two rain-affected matches from the second day of the tournament were rescheduled to take place on 18 November 2019. After the final day of group stage matches, Delhi and Jharkhand had progressed to the Super League stage of the tournament.
