Janeah Stewart (born July 21, 1996) is a student-athlete on the University of Mississippi women's track and field team. The four event thrower from Illinois, was awarded All-American status her first three years of college. Janeah Stewart's winning weight throw of 23.18m/76-0.75 broke the SEC meet record that had stood since 2004 and moved her up to No. 1 in the nation this year and No. 6 in NCAA history. [1]

Stewart earned two NCAA Division I All-America honors after her 2018 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships where she threw Shot put 17.34 m (56 ft 10+1⁄2 in) to place fifth, and Hammer throw 72.92 m (239 ft 2+3⁄4 in) to place first. Her hammer performance is a top 10 college throw all time. [6]
Stewart earned two NCAA Division I All-America honors after her 2018 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships where she threw Shot put 15.40 m (50 ft 6+1⁄4 in) to place fifteenth, and Weight throw 23.26 m (76 ft 3+1⁄2 in) to place third.
Stewart earned two All-America honors after her 2016 National Junior College Athletic Association indoor championship where she threw Shot put 14.93 m (48 ft 11+3⁄4 in) to place second, and Weight throw 19.77 m (64 ft 10+1⁄4 in) to place second. Stewart is a 2016 Kansas Relays champion in the hammer after throwing 55.09 m (180 ft 8+3⁄4 in). Stewart is a 2016 Drake Relays champion in the shot put after throwing 16.31 m (53 ft 6 in). [7] Stewart earned to All-America honors after her 2016 National Junior College Athletic Association outdoor championship where she threw shot put 15.78 m (51 ft 9+1⁄4 in) to place second, discus 50.79 m (166 ft 7+1⁄2 in) to place first, and hammer 58.95 m (193 ft 4+3⁄4 in) to place first.
Stewart is 2016 NJCAA National Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, a four-time NJCAA national champion (2015 indoor shot put, 2015 outdoor shot put, 2016 outdoor discus, 2016 outdoor hammer) and 2016 runner-up in the outdoor shot put, nine-time NJCAA All-American, earning honors in the indoor and outdoor shot put, indoor weight throw, outdoor hammer throw and discus, and 2016 USTFCCCA Women’s Midwest Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.
Stewart set Iowa Central Community College school record holder in the shot put 16.31 m (53 ft 6 in), discus 50.79 m (166 ft 7+1⁄2 in), hammer throw 58.95 m (193 ft 4+3⁄4 in) and weight throw 19.77 m (64 ft 10+1⁄4 in).

Two sports have events that fall under the name of weight throw one being the track and field event and the other being the Scottish highland games events.
Ryan Keith Whiting is an American track and field athlete who competes in the shot put and has a personal record of 22.28 meters outdoors and 22.35 meters indoors. His biggest international senior success to date is first place at the 2012 World Indoor Championships. He represented the United States at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics, 2013 World Championships in Athletics, 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships and the 2012 London Olympics.
Tia Ra'shone Brooks is an American shot putter. In 2011, she placed second in the shot put at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships. In 2012, she won both events before competing at the US Olympic Trials. At the Trials, she placed third in the shot put and qualified to represent the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She placed 19th at the Olympics. Also in 2012, she was a Bowerman Award semifinalist.
Kurt Roberts is an American track and field athlete who competes in the shot put. He set his personal record for the event in 2014, throwing 21.50 m to take second at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Tomas Walsh is a New Zealand athlete who competes mainly in the shot put. He is the current national record holder both outdoors and indoors for the event. His personal best of 22.90 m, set in Doha, 5 October 2019, is also the Oceanian record and makes him the seventh best shot putter in history.
Henry Francis Dreyer was an American athlete. He competed in the 1936 and 1948 Summer Olympics as a hammer thrower; his other strong event was the non-Olympic weight throw, in which he broke the world record several times. Between the two events and counting both outdoors and indoors, he won twenty United States championships.
Timothy "Tim" Nedow is a Canadian track and field athlete who competes in the shot put and discus throw. He has personal bests of 21.33 m in the shot put and 61.49 m in the discus throw. He was the bronze medalist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2013 Francophonie Games and a five-time champion of the Canadian Track and Field Championships. He has also competed at the World Championships in Athletics, in 2013, and twice at the Summer Universiade. He studied and competed athletically at the University of Tulsa and DePaul University.
Nicholas Miller is a British track and field athlete who specialises in the hammer throw. He was the gold medallist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2022 Commonwealth Games, a silver medallist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the gold medal at the 2015 European Athletics U23 Championships. He holds the British record of 80.26 m for the event.
Simon Alexander Williams is a male British former shot putter and discus thrower. He was the gold medallist in the shot put at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. He also represented Great Britain in the discus at the 1991 World Championships in Athletics and the 1992 Summer Olympics.
David Lorne Steen is a Canadian former track and field athlete who specialised in the shot put. He was a two-time gold medallist in the event at the Commonwealth Games in 1966 and 1970, breaking games records both times. He had won the bronze medal at the 1962 event. Gwendolyn Denise Berry is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the hammer throw. Her mark of 77.78 m on June 8, 2018, ranks her #7 on the all-time list. She also holds the world record in the weight throw with a mark of 25.60 m set in March 2017. She is a three-time national champion in the weight throw at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships. She was the gold medalist in the hammer at the 2014 Pan American Sports Festival. She is also the 2019 Pan American Games Champion.
Nwanneka Mariauchenna "Nikki" Okwelogu is a Nigerian track and field athlete who competes in the shot put and discus throw events. She was the 2016 discus gold medalist at the African Championships in Athletics. Born in the United States, she set Ivy League records in the throws while at Harvard University.
Raven "Hulk" Saunders is an American track and field athlete who competes in shot put. They were the silver medalist in women's shot put at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, throwing a distance of 19.79 m. They won four NCAA collegiate titles in shot put, both indoor and outdoor, at Southern Illinois University and University of Mississippi. They were a world junior silver medalist in 2014 and the Pan American junior champion in 2015. Saunders finished 11th in women's shot put at the 2024 Paris Olympics, throwing a distance of 17.79 m. They hold a personal record of 19.96 m for the shot put.
Felisha Nayomie Johnson is an American track and field athlete who specialises in the shot put. She was the 2015 national indoor champion in the weight throw. She won two NCAA collegiate titles in that event for the Indiana State Sycamores.
Rudy Winkler is an American male track and field athlete who competes in the hammer throw. He is the NACAC area record holder and American record holder with a throw of 82.71 m (271 ft 4 in) for the hammer and holds a personal best of 23.32 m for the weight throw. He was the hammer national champion in 2016 and 2020, winning the 2016. and 2020 United States Olympic Trials.
Maggie Ewen is an American shot putter. Maggie Ewen earned bronze medal when she threw the discus 59.00 m in Toronto at 2018 NACAC Championships, placed fourth in the shot put at 2019 World Athletics Championships and competed in the women's hammer throw at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. Ewen set collegiate outdoor records in shot put and hammer.
Jaida Ross is an American track and field athlete who competes in shot put and discus throw. She competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, where she placed 4th in women's shot put, and was the 2024 NCAA Division I champion in the event. Ross was the first collegiate woman to break 20 m in shot put.
