Johnson Col ( 78°22′S85°10′W / 78.367°S 85.167°W ) is a col at about 1,800 metres (5,900 ft), located in the Sullivan Heights 2 nautical miles (4 km) west-southwest of Mount Farrell in the central part of the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1957–59, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Earl F. Johnson, a U.S. Navy utilitiesman at South Pole Station in 1957. [1]
Mount Segers is a mountain at the south extremity of Sullivan Heights in the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica, separated from Vinson Massif to the southwest by Vranya Pass. It is situated 11 km (7 mi) east of Mount Tyree, on the east side of the head of Crosswell Glacier and surmounting Hinkley Glacier to the southeast.
Mount Levack is the mountain rising to 2751 m in Sullivan Heights on the east side of Sentinel Range, Antarctica. It is located 21 km (13 mi) east of Mount Ostenso, and overlooks Pulpudeva Glacier to the southwest and lower Ellen Glacier to the north. Its ridge is separated from Mount Farrell to the south by Zmeevo Pass and overlooks Strinava Glacier to the east-southeast.
Young Glacier is a glacier which flows from Mount Gozur and Ichera Peak in Maglenik Heights eastwards for 8 miles (13 km) and terminates at the north end of Barnes Ridge on the east side of Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos from 1957–59. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for First Lieutenant Dale L. Young of the United States Air Force (USAF), who participated in establishing the South Pole Station in the 1956–57 season.
Gildea Glacier is a glacier 10 kilometres (6 mi) long and 5 kilometres (3 mi) wide flowing southwestward from Craddock Massif between Mount Slaughter and Mount Atkinson into Nimitz Glacier, in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. The upper portion of the glacier also receives ice from Hammer Col and southern Vinson Massif.
Mount Bearskin is a mountain located 5 nautical miles (9 km) northeast of Mount Tyree, between Patton and Crosswell Glaciers, in the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains. It is linked to Tyree Ridge by Podgore Saddle.
Crosswell Glacier is a glacier 10 nautical miles long, flowing north-northeast from Mount Shinn between Sullivan Heights and Bearskin Ridge, in the central part of the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. Together with Patton and Pulpudeva Glaciers, it enters Ellen Glacier northwest of Mamarchev Peak and southeast of Mount Jumper.
Mount Jumper is a mountain 2,890 metres (9,480 ft) high located 7 nautical miles (13 km) east of Mount Viets in the central part of the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. Debren Pass separates it from the side ridge descending via Evans Peak. The mountain overlooks Ellen Glacier to the north and east, and its tributaries Patton Glacier and Rumyana Glacier to the south and northwest respectively.
Mount Strybing is a mountain standing on Owen Ridge 3 nautical miles (6 km) southeast of Mount Craddock in the south part of Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains. It is linked to Mount Craddock by Karnare Col, and surmounts Saltzman Glacier to the northeast, Brook Glacier to the southwest, and Severinghaus Glacier to the west-northwest.
Guerrero Glacier is a glacier about 7 nautical miles (13 km) long in Doyran Heights, draining from the southeast slopes of Mount Havener southwest of Beloslav Peak to the south side of Taylor Spur, in the southeast part of the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1957–59, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for John F. Guerrero, a meteorologist at South Pole Station in 1957.
Mount Gozur is a mountain, 2,980 metres (9,780 ft) high, in the Maglenik Heights of the central Sentinel Range, in the Ellsworth Mountains of Antarctica, situated just northwest of the head of Young Glacier and 9 nautical miles (17 km) east of Mount Bentley. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, from 1957 to 1959, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Captain Alexander Gozur of the United States Air Force, who participated in establishing the South Pole Station in the 1956–57 season.
Patton Glacier is a broad tributary glacier in the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains. It drains the east slope of the main ridge between Mounts Ostenso and Tyree, flows east-northeastwards between Evans Peak and Versinikia Peak on the north and Mount Bearskin on the south, and enters Ellen Glacier northeast of Zalmoxis Peak and southeast of Mount Jumper.
Mount Mohl is a mountain, 3,710 metres (12,170 ft) high, at the east side of Vinson Massif, surmounting the ridge between the heads of Dater Glacier and Thomas Glacier, in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It is connected to Doyran Heights to the northeast by Goreme Col.
The Flowers Hills are a triangular shaped group of hills, 34.6 kilometres (21.5 mi) long and 11.5 kilometres (7.1 mi) wide, with peaks of 1,240 metres (4,070 ft) and 1,504 metres (4,934 ft), extending along the eastern edge of the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. The hills are bounded by Hansen Glacier and Dater Glacier to the west and north, Rutford Ice Stream to the east and Sikera Valley to the southwest, and separated from Doyran Heights to the west-southwest by Kostinbrod Pass. Their interior is drained by Lardeya Ice Piedmont and Valoga Glacier.
Mount Morris is a steep, sharp mountain about 1 nautical mile (2 km) south of Mount Ostenso, in the main ridge of the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. It surmounts Patton Glacier to the eas-northeast.
Hansen Glacier is a tributary glacier 10 nautical miles long, flowing northeast from Mount Tuck between Veregava Ridge and Doyran Heights to join Dater Glacier west of Dickey Peak, in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica.
Hudman Glacier is a glacier draining south of Mount Landolt between Marze Peak and Miller Peak in Petvar Heights at the south end of the Sentinel Range, in the Ellsworth Mountains of Antarctica, flowing south-southeast to Minnesota Glacier. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1957–59, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Captain Rayburn A. Hudman, United States Marine Corps, who died in the crash of a Lockheed P2V-2n Neptune, modified for extreme range, flying in sub zero temperatures and Ski equipped for landing on the Ice runways at McMurdo Sound Antarctica on October 18, 1956.
Mount Slaughter is an ice-free peak, rising to 3,444 metres (11,299 ft) on a spur trending southwest from Opalchenie Peak on Vinson Plateau, Sentinel Range, in the Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica. It is surmounting the head of Donnellan Glacier to the northwest and Gildea Glacier to the south. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy aerial photographs from 1957 to 1960. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in 1982, after John B. Slaughter, the director of the National Science Foundation from 1980 to 1982.
Hough Glacier is a glacier in central Doyran Heights in the Sentinel Range of Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica, rising just south of Mount Tuck and flowing east-southeast for 10 nautical miles between Guerrero Glacier and Remington Glacier. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1957–59, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for William S. Hough, who made ionosphere studies at South Pole Station in 1957.
Goodge Col is a broad ice-covered col at 3,600 metres (11,800 ft) elevation between the south side of Mount Shinn and the Vinson Massif in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. The col is relatively level, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) wide, and is easily identified from positions east and west of the range. It drains northeastwards into Crosswell Glacier, eastwards into Hinkley Glacier and, jointly with the ice filled Jacobsen Valley, westwards into Branscomb Glacier.
Della Pia Glacier is a glacier that descends the east slope of Craddock Massif and flows between Mount Mohl and Elfring Peak into Thomas Glacier in the Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica.
