Kakatpur (Sl. No.: 105) is a Vidhan Sabha constituency of Puri district, Odisha. [2] This constituency includes Konark, Kakatpur block, Astarang block and 13 Gram panchayats (Jangalbori, Birtung, Baulanga, Desthali, Dhumala, Sorava, Mahalapada, Achutapur, Banakhandi, Simmili, Sutan, Tarakora and Badagaon) of Gop block. Kakatpur is also a famous spiritual place . Maa Mangala Temple in Kakatpur is a famous Devi Peeth. This is a 15th-century temple and a symbol of the ancient heritage of Kalinga. Devi Peeth is Kaktpur Mangala in the Puri District, near river Prachi. Maa Mangala was residing in the river Prachi and manifested herself through a boatman and the temple was built for her worship. Though the temple is around 600 years old, Maa mangala has a very ancient history related to Lord Jagannaths nava kalevar.
