Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple is a Hindu temple located in Kaleshwaram, Bhoopalpally, Telangana, India. [1] [2]
It is the site of a temple of the Hindu god Shiva. The temple is significant because of the two Shiva Lingas that are found on a single pedestal. These Linga are named Lord Shiva and Lord Yama. Collectively, they known as Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy. Kaleshwaram is one of three Shiva temples mentioned in Trilinga Desham, or "Land of Three Lingas." [3]
The holy place draws tourists during the Karthika Month of the Indian Calendar, 16 November – 15 December. Holy baths are held during 6–17 December. People who bathe here first visit Lord Ganesha, then pray to Lord Yama and then to Lord Shiva.
The temple is open from 4:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and 3:30-8:00 p.m.
Access to Laksha Bilwapatri Pooja is by request to Dewasthanam officials at least one month in advance.
Two types of prasadam are inside the temple: Pulihora (Tamarind rice) and Laddu (sweet). This place is very popular for after funeral events like kashi. People believe that this is second kashi in India.
Mahamaham, also known as Mahamagham or Mamangam, is a Hindu festival celebrated every 12 years in the Mahamaham tank located in the South Indian town of Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu, India. On the day of the Mahamaham festival, the river goddesses and Shiva gather here to rejuvenate their waters, according to a legend in the Periya Purana. The Hindus consider taking a pilgrimage and holy dip at the Mahamaham tirtha on the day of Mahamaham festival as sacred. The event attracts chariot processions, street fairs and classical dance performances in temple mandapas. The 12-year cycle Mahamaham festival in Tamil Nadu is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Magha, and is a symbolic equivalent of the Kumbh Mela in Prayag, Uttar Pradesh.
