Keshav Samant popularly known as Anand Samant is one of India's most successful contract bridge players. He has represented India in the world championships. In 2009, he was part of India's senior team at the 15th Bridge Federation of Asia and the Middle East (BFAME) championship in Amman, Jordan. [1]

The Santosh Trophy, officially known as Hero Senior Men's National Football Championship due to sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp, is a knock-out semi-professional football competition contested by the state associations and government institutions under the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the sport's governing body in India. Before the starting of the first national club league, the National Football League in 1996, the Santosh Trophy was considered the top domestic honour in India. Many players who have represented India internationally, played and gained honour while playing in the Santosh Trophy. The tournament is held every year with 37 teams, who are divided into five zones, must play in the qualifying round and progress into the tournament proper. The current champions are Kerala, who won their seventh title during the 2021–2022 edition.

In turn the EBL organizes bridge competition at the European level. In 2015, they white-washed Pakistan and clinched the series by 3-0 and in another major achievement they won a series against India by 2-1 and in the same year they beat South Africa 2–1 in an ODI series and cemented their spot in Champions Trophy 2017. While in football, Bangladesh are only the second team from South Asia to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup (1980). The country's greatest sucess in football was their 2003 SAFF Championship tiumph along with winning gold at 1999 South Asian Games. Traditional sports like Athletics, Swimming, Ha-du-du, Boli Khela, Lathi Khela are mostly played in the rural areas while foreign sports like hockey, volleyball, handball, golf etc. are more popular among the urban folks. The National Sports Council (NSC) is the governing body to control all the sports federations and councils in the country and is responsible to the ministry of youth and sports. There are a total of 42 different sports federations affiliated with the NSC. Bangladesh Games is the largest domestic multi-sport tournament in the country where athletes and sports teams from all the districts participate.

The 2018 Santosh Trophy Final was a match between Kerala and West Bengal, played on 1 April 2018, at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata, West Bengal. The match was a culmination of the 2017–18 Santosh Trophy, the 72nd edition of the football competition contested by regional state associations and government institutions under the All India Football Federation. Kerala won the match after defeating West Bengal in a penalty shootout 4–2. In regulation time, the match ended 1–1 while during extra time, a goal each found both sides tied 2–2 after 120 minutes.
