Kori Carter (born June 3, 1992) is an American track and field athlete [1] specializing in hurdle races, [2] the World Champion in the 400 metres hurdles event in 2017. Kori Carter was a nine-time All-American at Stanford University sponsored by Jordan Brand.

Prep

While at Claremont High School, in Claremont, California, Carter won the illustrious double hurdles title at the CIF California State Meet her junior and senior years (2009–10) (13.59/41.09 & 13.33/40.44), while winning the 300 hurdles in 2008. [3] She made the final in both races all four years, the first of those as a freshman in 2007.

NCAA

Kori Carter was a nine-time All-American at Stanford University sponsored by Nike. [4] [5]

As a Junior, on June 8, 2013, Carter won the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 400 metres hurdles in collegiate record time of 53.21. [6] [7] [8] [9] That mark tied triple Olympic gold medalist Marie-José Pérec for number 20 on the all-time list. Carter was a 2013 Bowerman finalist. [10] In 2023, she was inducted into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame. [11]

Professional

Kori ran 55.69 in 400 meters at 2013 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 21, 2013. [12]

Carter won the 400 meter hurdles at the 2014 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

At the 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon Kori placed 3rd in the 400m hurdles in 54.41, to go on to represent the U.S. for the 400m hurdles in the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China in August.

At the 2016 United States Olympic Trials (track and field) in Eugene, Oregon Kori placed 4th in the 400m hurdles in 54.47 but failed to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. [13]

At the 2017 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento Kori placed 3rd in the 400m hurdles in 52.95, [14] to represent the U.S. for the 400m hurdles in the 2017 World Championships in Athletics in London, where she won the world championship at 53.08.

At the 2018 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kori Carter placed 9th in the 60m hurdles in 8.03. [15]

At the 2018 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa Kori Carter placed 6th in the 100m hurdles in 13.11. [16]

He is a 3 time NCAA champion in the 400m hurdles and was the second freshman from Washington State University to ever win the NCAA title. In 2008 Anderson was 400 meter hurdles Junior World Champion and holds the second fastest high school time recorded in the 300m hurdles. He was born and raised in Woodland Hills, California and attended Taft High School. After winning the 2011 Outdoor Championships, Anderson had the competed for team USA at the world championships. He also participated in the 2016 Olympic trials in which he finished as a finalist.

Dalilah Muhammad is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the 400 meters hurdles. She is the 2016 Rio Olympics champion and 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, becoming at the latter the then-second-fastest woman of all time in the event with her personal best of 51.58 seconds. Muhammad was second at both the 2013 and 2017 World Championships to take her first gold in 2019, setting the former world record of 52.16 s. She was the second female 400 m hurdler in history, after Sally Gunnell, to have won the Olympic, World titles and broken the world record. At both the 2019 World Championships and Tokyo Games, she also took gold as part of women's 4 × 400 metres relay team.

Shamier Little is an American track and field sprinter specializing in the 400 metres hurdles. As a 20-year-old college sophomore at Texas A&M University, Little was the 2015 US champion. She then went on to win the silver medal in her signature event at the 2015 and 2023 World Championships. In July 2021, she became the fifth fastest woman of all time at the event.
