Local elections was held in the Province of Laguna on May 13, 2013 as part of the 2013 general election. Voters elected candidates for all local positions: a municipal/city mayor, vice mayor and town councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the vice-governor, governor and representatives for the four districts of Laguna.

Laguna (province) Province in Calabarzon, Philippines

Laguna, officially known as the Province of Laguna, is a province in the Philippines, located in the Calabarzon region in Luzon. Its capital is Santa Cruz and the province is situated southeast of Metro Manila, south of the province of Rizal, west of Quezon, north of Batangas and east of Cavite. Laguna hugs the southern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. As of the 2015 census, the province's total population is 3,035,081. It is also currently the seventh richest province in the country.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan, commonly known as the Provincial Board, is the Filipino language name given to the legislatures in Philippine provinces. They are the legislative branch of the province and their powers and responsibilities are defined by the Local Government Code of 1991. Along with the provincial governor, the executive branch of the province, they form the province's government.

Gubernatorial election

E.R. Ejercito is the incumbent, incumbent 4th district Rep. Edgar San Luis is his primary opponent.

Emilio Ramon Pelayo Ejercito III, commonly known as E.R. Ejercito and also popularly known by his official on-screen names Jorge Estregan, George Estregan Jr. and Jeorge "E.R." Ejercito Estregan, is a Filipino actor and was the Governor of Laguna. Prior to his election as governor, he served as mayor of Pagsanjan, Laguna. He is the son of actor George Estregan and the nephew of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.

The Legislative Districts of Laguna are the representations of the province of Laguna in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The province is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its first, second, third and fourth districts. The component city of Biñan, while remaining an integral part of province, was granted its own congressional representation in 2015. In 2018, The component city of Calamba, while remaining an integral part of province, was granted also its own congressional representation.

Timmy Chipeco, born Justin Marc San Buenaventura Chipeco is a Filipino politician and the incumbent city mayor of Calamba, having elected on May 16, 2013. He is also a former member of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, representing Laguna's 2nd District. He served this district for three consecutive terms, having first won in 2004, in 2007 and in 2010. He is the son of Jun Chipeco, Jr., the current legislative representative of the 2nd District of Laguna.

Aftermath

In September 2013, the Commission on Elections ruled that Ejercito was disqualified for overspending during the election, later in May 2014, the En Banc of COMELEC orders Ejercito to step down from office, but the latter appeals on the Supreme Court to null the COMELEC decision. [2] On May 27, 2014, Ramil Hernandez assumed as Governor of Laguna, while board member Atty. Katherine "Karen" Agapay assumed as Vice-Governor. 3 days later his uncle, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada convince his nephew to step down at the capitol.

Radial Road 3

Radial Road 3 (R-3) is a network of roads and bridges that altogether form the third arterial road of Manila in the Philippines. The road runs north-south linking the City of Manila to the southern Metro Manila cities of Makati, Pasay, Taguig, Parañaque and Muntinlupa, down to San Pedro, Biñan, Santa Rosa, Cabuyao and Calamba in the province of Laguna, all the way to the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road from Santo Tomas to Batangas City in the province of Batangas. The portion of R-3 from Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Makati to Calamba also forms part of the Pan-Philippine Highway network (AH26).

Local elections were held in the Province of Laguna on May 10, 2010 as part of the 2010 general election.
