Local elections were held in the Province of Cavite on May 13, 2013 within the Philippine general election. Voters selected candidates for all local positions: a mayor, vice mayor, councilors, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the vice-governor, governor and representatives for the seven districts of Cavite.

Cavite Province in Calabarzon, Philippines

Cavite is a province in the Philippines located on the southern shores of Manila Bay in the Calabarzon region on Luzon island. Situated 21 kilometres (13 mi) southwest of Metro Manila, it is one of the most industrialized and fastest growing provinces in the Philippines. Its population of 3,678,301 (2015) makes it one of the most populated provinces in the country.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan, commonly known as the Provincial Board, is the Filipino language name given to the legislatures in Philippine provinces. They are the legislative branch of the province and their powers and responsibilities are defined by the Local Government Code of 1991. Along with the provincial governor, the executive branch of the province, they form the province's government.

Incumbent Juanito Victor C. Remulla of the Nacionalista Party, [1] Lakas-CMD and the local party Partido Magdalo ran for a second term and defeated 3rd District Representative Ayong Maliksi, his gubernatorial predecessor.

Nacionalista Party political party

The Nacionalista Party is the oldest political party in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia responsible for leading the country throughout the majority of the 20th century since its founding in 1907, being the ruling party from 1935 to 1944, 1944–1946, 1953–1957, 1957–1961 and 1965–1972.

Partido Magdalo is one of the political parties in the Philippines founded by Former Governor Juanito Remulla Sr. and Former Congressman Renato P. Dragon. It is a local political party in Cavite.The new leaders of this party is Former Cavite Governor Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla, Jr. and Cavite Governor Jesus "Boying" Remulla.

Erineo "Ayong" Saquilayan Maliksi is a Filipino politician from the province of Cavite. As an elected official, he has served under different capacities in the City Government of Imus and the Provincial Government of Cavite. Maliksi likewise served as legislator, representing the 2nd and 3rd legislative districts of Cavite in the 11th and 15th Congress of the Republic of the Philippines, respectively.

Remulla and Maliksi's running mates are both sons of incumbent senators. Remulla ran with actor and Liga ng mga Barangay (League of Barangays) Provincial Chapter President Jolo Revilla of Lakas-CMD, son of senator Bong Revilla, while Ronald Jay Lacson, son of outgoing senator Panfilo Lacson, ran with Maliksi. Revilla went on to defeat Lacson by a comfortable margin.

Ramon "Jolo" Revilla III is a Filipino actor, comedian, and politician who was formerly under GMA Network.

Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., also known simply as Bong Revilla, is a Filipino actor, television presenter, politician, and a Senator of Philippines. In 2009, he legally changed his surname to Bong Revilla.

Panfilo Lacson Philippine Police Chief and Senator

Panfilo "Ping" Morena Lacson, Sr. is a Filipino politician who served in the Senate from 2001 to 2013 and again from 2016. He is a retired police officer who headed the Philippine National Police from 1999 to 2001.

According to a survey conducted on 1,300 respondents by the Laylo Research Strategies (LRS) on April 14–21, Remulla led Maliksi by 14% [5] or about 148,000 votes. The exact percentage of the respondents who will vote for the candidates was not shown. [6]

Juanito Victor C. Remulla is the incumbent. Although he ran under the Alyansang Lakas at Magdalo (Alliance of Lakas and Magdalo), which was dominated by Lakas-CMD candidates, he was still a member of the Nacionalista Party, which was affiliated with the Liberal coalition to which Maliksi belonged.

Liberal Party (Philippines) liberal party in the Philippines

The Liberal Party of the Philippines or LP is a liberal political party in the Philippines, founded by then senators Senate President Manuel Roxas, Senate President Pro-Tempore Elpidio Quirino, and former 9th Senatorial District Senator José Avelino, on January 19, 1946 by a breakaway Liberal wing from the old Nacionalista Party. It was the ruling party from 2010 to 2016 after the election victory of Benigno Aquino III as the President of the Philippines. Today, the Liberals are the opposition and maintain at least six seats in the Senate, and at least 27 of seats in the House of Representatives. Around 50% of governors, 50% of vice governors, and 33% of board members are also Liberals.

Congressional elections

Each of Cavite's seven legislative districts elected a representative to the House of Representatives.

1st District

The seat was vacated when Joseph Emilio Abaya was appointed as DOTC Secretary. His brother Francis "Blue" Abaya is his party's nominee for the seat. He ran against former Kawit Mayor Federico "Hit" Poblete of the Nacionalista Party. Director Joel Lamangan, who was going to run under the local party Partido Magdalo, withdrew his candidacy.

Juanito Victor Catibayan Remulla, Jr., commonly known by his nickname Jonvic Remulla, is a Filipino politician who served as Governor of Cavite. He is the son of former Governor Juanito Remulla and sibling of Gilbert Remulla and Jesus Crispin Remulla.

Elections were held in Calabarzon for seats in the House of Representatives of the Philippines on May 13, 2013.

Local elections will be held in the city of Dasmariñas on 13 May 2013 together with the National and the provincial level elections. Since Dasmariñas is a first class city in terms of income and the 2nd largest city in southern Luzon in terms of population, however it still an ordinary component city, it means it still elect a provincial official, despite of its own representation in the congress.

Local elections are held in the Province of Cavite of the Philippines, on May 9, 2016 as part of the 2016 general election. Voters will select candidates for all local positions: a town mayor, vice mayor and town councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the vice-governor, governor and representatives for the seven districts of Cavite. Originally, incumbent Governor Jonvic Remulla was set running for his final term under Partido Magdalo and supported by the Estrada-Binay-led United Nationalist Alliance along with Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla, however, he later dropped out and was replaced by his brother Jesus Crispin Remulla, who ran solo instead.

The voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, the vice mayor, the lone district representative, the two provincial board members for Cavite, and the twelve councilors, six in each of the city's two local legislative districts.
