Leah Kagasa (born April 5, 1995) is a Ugandan model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Uganda 2016. She reigned for 2 years as Miss Uganda from 2016 to 2018. [1] She represented Uganda in Miss World 2016 in Washington, DC, that December. [2] Currently she is involved in the Miss Uganda Foundation charity organization as an advocate for social issues like sanitation, teenage pregnancies and girl child education.

Background

Kagasa was born in 1995, to Ugandan parents in Kabarole District. She attended St. Helen’s Primary School, before transferring to Bweranyangi Girls' Senior Secondary School for O-Level studies. She completed her A-Level education at Maryhill High School. [3]

She graduated from Makerere University Business School with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. She also holds a Cabin Crew Diploma, awarded by the Uganda Aviation School, where she attended on scholarship, provided by Flight Captain Mike Mukula, the aviation school's proprietor. [4]

2016 Miss Uganda pageant

During the 2016 Miss Uganda competition, Kagasa beat about 20 other contestants to win the crown. She was crowned by Zahara Nakiyaga, the 2015 Miss Uganda. [5] In 2017, there was no Miss Uganda contest and Kagasa continued as Miss Uganda until the 2018 Miss Uganda contest in August 2018. [6] Besides winning the beauty pageant, Kagasa was also voted "Miss Popularity". [7]

During the two years that she served as Miss Uganda, she has participated in several community development projects, including a clean water campaign with UNAA Causes, an American-Ugandan non-profit based in the United States. Other campaigns have include the "Kick Malaria out of Uganda" with the Uganda Ministry of Health, and others. [8]

Quiin Abenakyo is a Ugandan model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Uganda 2018. She represented Uganda at Miss World 2018 in China and was crowned Miss World Africa 2018. At the Miss World 2018 contest, Abenakyo was a winner in the head to head challenge portion of the contest, and she placed in the Top 5 overall. Sylvia Wilson Namutebi Alibhai is a Ugandan former model and beauty pageant titleholder. She reigned as Miss Uganda in 2011 and represented Uganda at Miss World later that year.

Kenneth Kimuli Amooti is a Ugandan comedian, playwright and journalist. He is well known as Pablo in the Ugandan comedy circles. He won the first Multi-Choice Stand Up Uganda comedy competition. She represented Uganda at the Miss World competition which took place in India from February 18 to March 9, 2023. She emerged as the first runner up Miss World Africa at the 71st Miss World event that was close to Quiin Abenakyo and was also ranked among the top 10 queens with the best "beauty with purpose project".

Kyeru Phiona Bridget is a Ugandan beauty queen and former miss tourism Uganda. She was born on September 27, 1997, in Iganga, Busoga region, Uganda. She was crowned miss tourism Uganda 2019 on October 4, 2019.
