Li Zaiyong (Chinese :李再勇; pinyin :LǐZàiyǒng;born August 1962) is a former Chinese politician of Gelao ethnicity who was executive vice governor of Guizhou Provincial People's Government from 2018 to 2022 and vice chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference from 2022 to 2023. As of March 2023,he was under investigation by China's top anti-corruption agency.
He was a delegate to the th and 13th National People's Congress.
Li was born in Wuchuan Gelao and Miao Autonomous County,Guizhou,in August 1962. [1] After resuming the college entrance examination,in 1979,he entered Guizhou Agricultural College (now Guizhou University),where he majored in agronomy. [1]
Li began his political career in August 1983,and joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in April 1984. [1]
Starting in August 1983,he served in several posts in Tongzi County,including town headman,deputy head of the Organization Department of the Chinese Communist Party,director of the Office of the County Party Committee and director of the Research Office,and deputy party secretary of the county. [1] He served as magistrate of the county from 1992 to 1995,and party secretary,the top political position in the county,from 1995 to 1998. [1]
Li was appointed party secretary of Honghuagang District in January 1998 and two years later was admitted to member of the CCP Zunyi Municipal Committee,the city's top authority. [1]
In November 2001,he became vice governor of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture and member of the CCP Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefectural Committee,and held that offices until May 2008. [1]
Li was made mayor of Tongren in May 2008,in addition to serving as deputy party secretary. [1]
He was appointed deputy party secretary of the capital city Guiyang in February 2011,concurrently serving as mayor since March of that same year. [1]
He was chosen as party secretary of Liupanshui in November 2013 and in December 2016 was admitted as a member of the CCP Guizhou Provincial Committee,the province's top authority. [1]
He was secretary-general of CCP Guizhou Provincial Committee in January 2017 and subsequently party secretary of Guiyang in August 2017. [2] He was elevated to executive vice governor of Guizhou in January 2018. In January 2022,he took office as vice chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference,the provincial advisory body. [3]
On 27 March 2023,Li has been placed under investigation for "serious violations of laws and regulations" by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI),the party's internal disciplinary body,and the National Supervisory Commission,the highest anti-corruption agency of China. [4] On November 8,he was expelled from the CCP and removed from public office,and was arrested by the Supreme People's Procuratorate. [5]
On 23 May 2024,Li stood trial for graft at the Fifth Intermediate People's Court of Chongqing Municipality,pleaded guilty to accepting bribes worth more than 400 million yuan ($59.6 million) and abusing power. [6] On August 13,he was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve by the Fifth Intermediate People's Court of Chongqing Municipality. [7]
Liao Shaohua is a former Chinese politician who spent most of his career in southwest China's Guizhou province. He successively served as the mayor of the city of Liupanshui,then Party Secretary of the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. In Qiandongnan Prefecture,Liao developed a reputation for being a low-key competent official. He oversaw a tough local anti-corruption campaign that saw over a dozen local officials charged and sentenced to prison. He also engaged with ordinary residents by responding to inquiries and petitions online. He became Party Secretary of Zunyi in July 2012,which eventually earned him a seat on the provincial party Standing Committee,making Liao one of the province's highest-ranked officials.
Shen Yiqin is a Chinese politician of Bai ethnic heritage who is currently a state councilor and President of the All-China Women's Federation since 2023. She previously served as the Communist Party Secretary of Guizhou,a province in southwestern China,between November 2020 and December 2022.
Liu Xiaokai is an ethnic Miao politician from China. He was born in Taijiang County,Guizhou province. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in April 1985. He graduated from the mechanical engineering department at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He was,successively,the party chief of Jianhe County,the commissioner of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture,the acting commissioner of Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture,and the prefecture party chief of Bijie. In January 2008,he was named vice-governor of Guizhou. He was named in July 2012 as Guizhou Shengwei Changwei and the head of the United Front Work Department of Guizhou province.
Kong Lingzhong is a Chinese politician who spent most of his career in southwest China's Guizhou province. At the height of his career,he served as vice-chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He served three terms as vice-chairman in 2008,2010 and 2012. As of 2016 he was under investigation by the Chinese Communist Party's internal control body,the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. Then he was placed on one-year probation within the CCP and was demoted to less responsible jobs.
Wang Xiaoguang is a former Chinese politician who served as Vice Governor of Guizhou. He was dismissed from his position in March 2018 and placed under investigation by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission. Wang was the first high-ranking official probed since the National Supervisory Commission was established in March 2018.
Ai Wenli is a former Chinese politician who served as the Vice-Chairman of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Previously,he served as the head of the Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party Hebei Committee and the Mayor of Shijiazhuang. He was placed under investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission shortly after his retirement. Ai is the first leader of vice-ministerial level to spontaneously hand himself in to the anti-corruption agency of China after the implementation of Supervision Law in March 2018.

Wang Yong is a former Chinese politician who spent his entire career in both Shandong and Hainan provinces. He was investigated by China's top anti-graft agency in July 2020. Previously he served as vice-chairman of the Hainan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He entered the workforce in January 1973,and joined the Chinese Communist Party in July 1976. He was a delegate to the 12th National People's Congress.
Li Wenxi is a retired Chinese politician who spent his entire career in his home-province Liaoning. As of January 2021 he was under investigation by China's top anti-corruption agency. He has retired for eight years,prior to that,he served as vice chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference from 2008 to 2013 and head of Liaoning Provincial Public Security Department from 2002 to 2011. He is the first leader of provincial-ministerial level to be targeted by China's top anticorruption watchdog in 2021.
Wang Fuyu is a retired Chinese politician of Hui ethnicity. At the height of his political career,he was chairman of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference,the province's top political advisory body. Prior to that,he was party chief of Haikou and Sanya in south China's Hainan province. He was investigated by China's top anti-graft agency in February 2021. He was the third leader of provincial-ministerial level to be targeted in 2021,after Li Wenxi,former vice chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference,and Song Liang,for executive vice governor of Gansu.
