Liotryphon is a genus of insect belonging to the family Ichneumonidae, [1] in the subfamily Pimplinae. [2]
The genus was first described in 1900 by William Harris Ashmead. [1] [3] It replaced the synonym LiogasterKriechbaumer, 1890 (which was junior homonym of Liogaster Meyer, 1844). It has two junior homonyms: ApistesSeyrig, 1927 (junior homonym of ApistesFischer, 1823), and ApistephialtesSeyrig, 1928 (nom. nov. for ApistesSeyrig).
The type species is Liogaster punctulatusRatzeburg, 1848
