List of Hertfordshire County Cricket Club grounds

Last updated

Hertfordshire County Cricket Club was established on 8 March 1876. It has since played minor counties cricket from 1895 and played List A cricket from 1964 to 2004, using a different number of home grounds during that time. Their first home minor counties fixture in 1895 was against Norfolk at Cricketfield Lane, Bishop's Stortford, while their first home List A match came 71 years later against Berkshire in the 1966 Gillette Cup at the Lucas Lane, Hitchin.

Notes

  1. Middlesex played a single List A match here in the 2013 Yorkshire Bank 40 against Yorkshire.
  2. A single first-class cricket match was played here in June 1872 between a United South of England Eleven versus a United North of England Eleven.
  3. Northamptonshire played List A matches here from 19741991. Buckinghamshire have played four Minor Counties Championship matches and two MCCA Knockout Trophy matches here. Only the matches played by Hertfordshire in these competitions at the ground is recorded in the table.
  4. The ground has played host to a number of teams in List A matches. Minor Counties West played two matches there in the 1977 and 1978 Benson & Hedges Cup, while Minor Counties South played there in the 1979 Benson & Hedges Cup. A combined Minor Counties cricket team played here in the 1980 Benson & Hedges Cup, before Middlesex played here against the touring Sri Lankans in 1981.
  5. Six first-class cricket matches have been played here between 1996 and 1994. The Marylebone Cricket Club played three matches at the ground, while Middlesex played two matches against the touring Sri Lankans and Zimbabweans respectively in 2002 and 2003. The sixth first-class match held there saw Sri Lanka A play the touring West Indians. Four List A matches were played here between 1996 and 2004, with the Marylebone Cricket Club playing the touring Pakistanis in 1996, with the other three matches seeing Middlesex as the home team. The Middlesex Cricket Board and Northamptonshire Cricket Board have both played one MCCA Knockout Trophy match here apiece. Only the MCCA Knockout Trophy matches played by Hertfordshire at the ground are recorded in the table. Both Women's Test cricket and Women's One Day International cricket matches have been played here by the England national women's cricket team.

Cricketfield Lane is a cricket ground in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire. The earliest recorded match on the ground was in 1862 between Bishop's Stortford and an All-England Eleven. In 1895 Hertfordshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match on the ground, which came against Norfolk. From 1895 to the present day, the ground has played host to 54 Minor Counties Championship matches and 6 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Brunton Memorial Ground</span> Cricket ground

Brunton Memorial Ground is a cricket ground at Radlett in Hertfordshire. The ground is the home of Radlett Cricket Club and, since 2013, has been used as an outground by Middlesex County Cricket Club. It was used occasionally by Hertfordshire County Cricket Club between 1975 and 2008 for Minor Counties Championship matches.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Balls Park</span>

Balls Park in Hertford is a Grade I Listed mid-17th-century house. The estate and house are set in over 63 acres of parkland which is listed Grade II on the English Heritage Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest. The estate and house has been claimed to have been the inspiration for Netherfield in Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice, which is set in Hertfordshire.

Digswell Park is a cricket ground in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1866 between The Node and Southgate. In 2000, the ground hosted its only Minor Counties Championship match to date, which was between Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. In 2003, the ground hosted 2 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. Hertfordshire resumed their usage of Digswell Park and have to date played 4 further MCCA Knockout Trophy matches on the ground.

Ditchmore Lane is a cricket ground in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1921, when Hertfordshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match which was against Buckinghamshire. From 1921 to 2000, the ground played host to 41 Minor Counties Championship matches and 2 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hitchin Town Cricket Club Ground</span>

Hitchin Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1877, when Hertfordshire played Essex. Hertfordshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match on the ground in 1908 against Cambridgeshire. Hertfordshire used the ground until 1914, and following a 37-year break from the ground, it returned in 1951. From 1914 to 1998, the ground played host to 38 Minor Counties Championship matches and 2 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.

Stephen Burrow is a former English cricketer. Burrow was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born at Wokingham, Berkshire.
