Mohun Bagan Super Giant (commonly referred to as Mohun Bagan) is an Indian association football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Founded in 1889, it is one of the oldest football clubs in Asia. The club competes in the Indian Super League, the top tier of Indian football league system. [1]
Mohun Bagan played their first match in 1889 against Eden Hindu Hostel. They won their first ever title in 1904, lifting Cooch Behar Cup. [2] In 1911, Mohun Bagan became the first Indian club to win a major title, when they defeated the East Yorkshire Regiment, 2–1 to lift the IFA Shield. With 14 Federation Cup titles and 6 NFL/I-League/ISL titles, Mohun Bagan is the most successful club in major national tournaments. Mohun bagan have won more than 5000 matches in their football history, which is highest for an Indian club.

Mohun Bagan has won the I-League twice, winning the first title in 2014–15.
Mohun Bagan has won an Indian Super League championship title, winning the first title in 2022–23 and won its first premiership title in 2023–24.

Mohun Bagan won the Calcutta Football League for the first time in 1939. The first league title post independence came in 1951. The Mariners have clinched three consecutive league titles three times in their history. Mohun Bagan was the first club to win ten league titles in 1962.
In 1911 Mohun Bagan became the first Indian club to win IFA Shield by defeating East Yorkshire Regiment 2–1 in the final. The second IFA Shield title came in 1947. Between 1976 and 1979 the club won IFA Shield four consecutive times. [6]
Mohun Bagan is the most successful team in Rovers Cup, with 14 titles. They are also the first Indian civilian club to be invited to participate in the Rovers Cup. [7]

The Durand Cup is an annual domestic football competition in India which was first held in 1888 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Hosted by the Durand Football Tournament Society (DFTS) and the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the tournament is the oldest existing club football tournament in Asia and the fifth oldest national football competition in the world. The tournament currently serves as the curtain raiser for every Indian football season. It is open for any national club of any divisions, with guest invitee teams from different sections of the Indian Armed Forces.
The IFA Shield is an annual football competition organized by the Indian Football Association, the football governing body in the Indian state of West Bengal. The IFA came into existence in 1893, and was named after the association. The IFA Shield tournament was started in the same year. It is the third oldest football tournament in India, after Durand Cup and Trades Cup, and is among the oldest football competitions in the world.
Subimal "Chuni" Goswami was an Indian professional footballer and first-class cricketer. As footballer, he played as a striker or winger, captained both the Mohun Bagan club and the India national team. He also served as the Sheriff of Kolkata. Goswami scored nine goals in 30 international appearances. He was an Olympian, represented India national team at the 1960 Summer Olympics. He also led the team to achieve the gold medal at the 1962 Asian Games, and earn the runners-up position at the 1964 AFC Asian Cup.
Deepak Kumar Mondal is an Indian former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. A graduate of the Tata Football Academy, An Arjuna Award winner, he was one of India's most prominent right backs for over a decade, earning 47 caps with the India national team. Mondal also played with both the Kolkata giants, East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, spending five years at each club, captaining both of them.

Satyajit Chatterjee is an Indian former footballer and coach, who captained Mohun Bagan and represented India internationally. He served as India Captain in the year 1991. Prasun Banerjee is an Indian former professional footballer and politician who is serving as an MP in the Lok Sabha from Howrah. He is an Arjuna Award winner (1979). Considered as one of Asia's best defenders in the 1960s, he spent most of his career in Mohun Bagan.
The 2003–04 season was East Bengal Football Club's 8th season in the National Football League, and also marked the club's 84th season. East Bengal successfully defended their league title from the previous season, competing in the 2003-04 NFL. They have also won the 2003 Calcutta Football League and the 2003 ASEAN Club Championship. They became runners-up in the 2003 Super Cup, 2003 Durand Cup and 2003 IFA Shield.

The 2002–03 season is East Bengal Football Club's 7th season in the National Football League, and also marks the club's 83rd season. Coached by Subhash Bhowmick, East Bengal won all five trophies from the five tournaments they participated in, including their second National league title, competing in the 2002–03 NFL. They also won the 2002 Calcutta Football League, 2002 Durand Cup and 2002 IFA Shield and the 2002 Independence Day Cup. This was the third instance in the history of East Bengal club that the club had won 5 trophies in a season, the other two back in 1972 and 1973 during P.K. Banerjee's reign.
