Karan Johar is an Indian filmmaker and television personality who works in Hindi Cinema. [1] He has won several awards, including two National Film Awards and seven Filmfare Awards. In 2020, the Government of India honoured him with Padma Shri, the country's fourth highest civilian award.
Johar made his directorial debut with the romantic comedy-drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), which earned him the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, for his director role and the Filmfare Awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay. His next two films were the ensemble dramas Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001) and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), which were both very successful in domestic and overseas markets. His social drama My Name Is Khan (2010) earned him his second Filmfare Award for Best Director. He earned his second National Film Award for Shershaah (2022) as a producer. These, along with the several successful films he has produced under the Dharma Productions banner, have established him as one of the leading director-producers in Hindi cinema.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., also known by the initials K3G, is a 2001 Indian Hindi-language family drama film written and directed by Karan Johar and produced by Yash Johar under his banner Dharma Productions. The film has an ensemble cast, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor, with Rani Mukerji in an extended guest appearance. It tells the story of an Indian multimillionaire family, which faces troubles and misunderstandings over their adopted son's marriage to a girl belonging to a lower socio-economic group than them. The film score was composed by Babloo Chakravarty with the music composed by Jatin–Lalit, Sandesh Shandilya and Aadesh Shrivastava and lyrics written by Sameer and Anil Pandey.
Kal Ho Naa Ho, also abbreviated as KHNH, is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Nikhil Advani in his directorial debut with a story written by Karan Johar with dialogue by Niranjan Iyengar, and produced by Yash Johar. Shershaah is the soundtrack album to the 2021 Hindi film of the same name directed by Vishnuvardhan. Based on the life of Param Vir Chakra-awardee Captain Vikram Batra, the film stars Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in leading roles. The film score is composed by John Stewart Eduri. The original songs featured in the film were composed by Tanishk Bagchi, B Praak, Jasleen Royal, Javed–Mohsin and Vikram Montrose with lyrics written by Manoj Muntashir, Rashmi Virag, Anvita Dutt, Jaani and Bagchi. The soundtrack album released by Sony Music India on 16 August 2021.
