Mammootty is an Indian actor, who works mainly in the Malayalam film industry. [1] As of 2024, Mammootty has won 3 National Film Award for Best Actor, 9 Kerala State Film Awards,11 Kerala Film Critics Awards, and 15 Filmfare Awards South. [2] Mammootty received his first National Film Award for Best Actor in 1990 for Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Mathilukal. In 1994, he secured his second National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Vidheyan and T. V. Chandran's Ponthan Mada. In 1997, Mammootty received his third National Film Award for Best Actor in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar , in which he portrayed the role of B. R. Ambedkar He has also received 11 Kerala Film Critics Awards.
In 2013, in an online poll conducted by CNN-IBN on their website as part of the 100 years celebration of Indian cinema, 2 of his films: Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha and Anantaram were ranked amongst the "greatest Indian film ever". [3] On the centenary of Indian cinema in April 2013, Forbes included Mammootty's performance in Mathilukal on its list, "25 Greatest Acting Performances of Indian Cinema". [4] In 2005, Asianet called him "The greatest method actor to grace Indian cinema." [5] [ better source needed ] He owned a film production company, Casino Films, which produced several of his films. [6] He formed a television production company, Megabytes, which produced television serials, the first being Jwalayay. [7] In 2022, he became one of the few actors in India to have completed 50 years in Indian cinema. Mammootty has been honoured at a few international film festivals like the Muscat International Film Festival and International Film Festival of India. [8]

Kesavan Venugopal, better known by his stage name Nedumudi Venu, was an Indian actor and screenwriter from Kerala, who predominantly worked in Malayalam cinema. He acted in more than 500 films, primarily in Malayalam and also in Tamil in a career spanning nearly five decades. He wrote screenplays and directed one film. Nedumudi Venu won three National Film Awards, three Filmfare Award South and six Kerala State Film Awards for his various performances in various Movies.
Kaazhcha (transl. Vision) is a 2004 Indian Malayalam-language family-drama film written and directed by Blessy, in his directorial debut. The story revolves around the boy Pavan who reaches Kerala after he loses everything in the 2001 Gujarat earthquake. Film projectionist Madhavan (Mammootty) happens to meet the boy and takes him with him. The film was reported to be inspired by the 1986 Iranian film Bashu, the Little Stranger. The film won three Filmfare Awards South, including the debut of actress Padmapriya.
Ranjith Balakrishnan is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor who works in Malayalam cinema. Ranjith made his directorial debut in 2001 with Ravanaprabhu, the sequel to Devaasuram. He has won three National Film Awards, including one for his film Spirit, which received the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues. His films Thirakkatha and Indian Rupee won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam in 2008 and 2011, respectively. He has also received six Kerala State Film Awards.
Ore Kadal is a 2007 Malayalam-language film written and directed by Shyamaprasad. The film is based on Sunil Gangopadhyay’s Bengali novel Hirak Deepthi. The film examines the extra-marital relationship between an intellectual economist and a housewife. It stars Mammootty, Meera Jasmine, Narain and Ramya Krishnan.

Pranchiyettan & the Saint is a 2010 Indian Malayalam-language satirical comedy film written, directed, and produced by Ranjith. The film centres on the fictitious conversation between the Thrissur based businessman C. E. Francis a.k.a. Pranchiyettan (Mammootty) and St. Francis of Assisi. Priyamani, Innocent, Siddique, Khushbu Sundar, Jagathy Sreekumar, Ganapathy, Sasi Kalinga, Tini Tom and Biju Menon play the other important roles. The film is considered one of the best comedy films in Malayalam cinema and has attained cult status in the years following its release. Some critics consider the film as one of the defining movies of the Malayalam New Wave.
