The 69th Filmfare Awards South is an awards event that recognised and honoured the best films and performances from the Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films and music released in 2023 along with special honours for lifetime contributions and few special awards. [1] [2] The nominations were announced on 16 July 2024 and took place on 3 August 2024. [3] [4] [5] [6]

Chithha is the most awarded film with seven awards, followed by Dasara with six, Baby and Ponniyin Selvan: II with five, Sapta Saagaradaache Ello [a] with four, and Balagam, Daredevil Musthafa and Kaathal – The Core with three. Dasara is the most awarded Telugu film. Chithha is the most awarded Tamil film. Kaathal – The Core is the most awarded Malayalam film. Sapta Saagaradaache Ello [a] is the most awarded Kannada film.

Every Best Film winner have also won the Best Director award, expect for Kannada cinema. Kapil Kapilan is the most awarded individual having won Best Male Playback Singer – Malayalam and Best Male Playback Singer – Kannada, making him the only individual to win an award in two different languages (Malayalam and Kannada). Dasara is the only film to have two lead acting role awards won by Nani (Best Actor – Telugu) and Keerthy Suresh (Best Actress – Telugu).

They are presented by Filmfare magazine of The Times Group. When it was introduced in 1954, the Filmfare Awards initially only recognized achievements in the Hindi cinema. In 1964 the awards were extended to Telugu, Tamil, Bengali and Marathi languages. Malayalam cinema was included in the awards in 1967 and Kannada cinema followed in 1970.

Ponniyin Selvan: I is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language epic action drama film directed by Mani Ratnam, who co-wrote it with Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan. Produced by Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, it is the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel, Ponniyin Selvan. The film stars an ensemble cast including Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, R. Daredevil Musthafa Mattu Ramanuja Iyengari Patalam is a 2023 Indian Kannada-language comedy-drama film directed by debutant Shashank Soghal. Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side B (stylized as Sapta Saagaradaache Ello (Side B); transl. "Somewhere Beyond the Seven Seas (Side B)") is the second installment of the 2-Part 2023 Indian Kannada-language romantic drama film, co-written and directed by Hemanth M. Rao and produced by Rakshit Shetty. It is the sequel to the Sapta Saagaradaache Ello – Side A. It stars Rakshit Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth and Chaithra J. Achar in the lead roles. Mad is a 2023 Indian Telugu-language coming-of-age comedy drama film written and directed by Kalyan Shankar in his directorial debut. The ceremony recognized and honored the best films and performances from Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada films released in 2023, along with special honours for lifetime contributions and a few special awards. The nominations were announced in late-July 2024.

The 3rd IIFA Utsavam is an awards event that took place at the Etihad Arena, Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on 27 September 2024. Rana Daggubati and Teja Sajja have hosted the Telugu segment. Pearle Maaney and Sudev Nair have hosted the Malayalam segment. Akul Balaji and Vijay Raghavendra have hosted the Kannada segment. Sathish and Divya Menon were later announced as the hosts for the Tamil segment. The nominations were announced on 21 August 2024.
