Takkar (released internationally as The Bang) is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language romantic action film written and directed by Karthik G. Krish and produced by Passion Studios. [1] The film stars Siddharth, Divyansha Kaushik and Yogi Babu in the lead roles, alongside Abhimanyu Singh, Munishkanth and RJ Vigneshkanth in supporting roles. [2]
Takkar was released on 9 June 2023, received negative reviews from critics and became a box-office bomb. [3]
Gunashekharan alias "Gunz" is a happy-go-lucky youngster who has the desire to become a millionaire, where he gets entangled with a rich girl named Lucky, who believes that the money is the root cause of distress. While travelling on a road trip, Guns and Lucky get stuck in a web of human trafficking and unexpected twists which alter their lives.
The film was directed by Karthik G. Krish, who earlier directed the film Kappal , [4] and the unreleased Shaitan Ka Bachcha (also featuring Siddharth) [5] and produced by Sudhan Sundaram and G. Jayaram under the banner of Passion Studios. The cinematography of the film was done by Vanchinathan Murugesan, and the editing of the film was done by GA Gowtham. [6] The film was shot in Chennai and Sikkim. [7] The first-look poster and motion poster were released on 23 December 2019. The music for the film was composed by Nivas K. Prasanna. [15] The first single, "Rainbow Thiralil" was released on 21 January 2020. [16] The second single "Maragadha Maalai" was released on 31 January 2020. [17] The third single, "Nira", was released on 27 February 2020 and was well received. [18] [19] A writer from Milliblog wrote that "There’s so much to observe and like, here: Sid Sriram’s lead vocals, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Malvi Sundaresan’s part later in the song! [20] A writer from Behindwoods wrote that "Sid Sriram starts off from the get-go and when he sings, one thing is extremely difficult – turning attention away". [21] This film marks the debut of singer Malvi Sundaresan with the song "Nira".

The film crew had earlier announced that the film would release on 17 April 2020, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [22] It was released on 9 June 2023. [23] [24]
The satellite and digital rights of the film were sold to Star Network and Netflix. [25]
Logesh Balachandran of The Times of India gave the film 2.5 out of 5 stars and wrote, "The genre shifts from action to romcom and romcom to action every ten minutes. The transition is not organic, and the sequences are bit forced." [26] 123telugu gave 2 out of 5 stars and wrote "Takkar is a forgettable outing that barely has any engaging moments. The weak plot and the dull narrative tests the patience levels big time." [27] Janani K of India Today gave 1.5 out of 5 stars and wrote "Takkar is a film that should have come out in the 2000s. Director Karthik G Krish’s story is so redundant that you could guess every single plot twist miles ahead of its arrival." [28]
Kirubhakar Purushothaman of The Indian Express rated 1 out of 5 stars and wrote "After a lot of contrivances and bad writing, we find the hero and heroine eloping in a car with gangsters on their tails". [29] A critic from Maalai Malar gave two point seven five and wrote that director Karthik G Krish has moved the film by focusing on what kind of things money does in life. The critic said cast of the film is strong, but a bit more attention could have been paid to the screenplay, and there seems to be a slight sag in some places. [30] Dinamalar gave 2.25 out of 5 stars and criticised the film. [31]
Murali Karthikeyan Muthuraman, better known by his stage name Karthik, is an Indian actor, playback singer and politician who works in Tamil cinema. He is the son of veteran actor R. Muthuraman. In the 1980s and 90s, Karthik was one of the biggest stars in the industry. He was first introduced by Bharathiraja in the Tamil film Alaigal Oivathillai (1981) and became a lead actor in Tamil films by his own. He has also appeared in some Telugu films where he is credited as Murali. Karthik is popularly known as Navarasa Nayagan for his "ability to emote all forms of actions and emotions". Siddharth Suryanarayan, known mononymously as Siddharth, is an Indian actor who primarily works in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi language films. Apart from acting, he has also been involved in films as a screenwriter, producer and playback singer. He has also been featured in many advertisements.

Kadhilil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi is a 2012 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film written and directed Balaji Mohan based on the same‑titled short film he made. The film stars Siddharth and Amala Paul. A few scenes of Siddharth, Amala Paul, Suresh and Surekha Vani were reshot for the Telugu version, which was titled Love Failure. It was released worldwide on 17 February 2012 to critical acclaim and was declared a hit.
All in All Azhagu Raja is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film written and directed by M. Rajesh. The film stars Karthi in dual lead roles with Kajal Aggarwal, Prabhu, Santhanam, Saranya Ponvannan, and Radhika Apte in the supporting roles. The music was composed by S. Thaman with cinematography by Sakthi Saravanan and editing by Vivek Harshan. The film was released on 2 November 2013 to negative reviews from critics.
JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai is a 2015 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Cheran, which was simultaneously made and later released in Telugu as Rajadhi Raja. It stars Sharwanand and Nithya Menen while Prakash Raj and Santhanam play supporting roles. The film featured songs by G. V. Prakash Kumar and film scored by Siddharth Vipin. After failing to have a theatrical release in late 2013, the Tamil version of the film had a direct-to-video release in March 2015, becoming the first venture in a new initiative launched by Cheran known as Cinema2Home (C2H). The Telugu version of the film had been indefinitely placed on hold, but was later released theatrically in June 2016, with the makers trying to profit from Sharwanand's popularity.

Vanmam (transl. Vengeance) is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language action drama film directed by Jai Krishna, a former assistant of Kamal Haasan. It stars Vijay Sethupathi, Kreshna and Sunaina. The film has music scored by S. Thaman and cinematography by Balabharani. It is a rural tale about the life of two friends, played by Sethupathi and Kreshna. In spite of expectations the movie didn't perform well at the box office. The film was highly panned by the critics for its poor screenplay.
Kaththi is the soundtrack album composed by Anirudh Ravichander, for the 2014 Tamil film of the same name. The film, directed by A. R. Murugadoss and produced by Lyca Productions, stars Vijay in dual roles, with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Sathish. This film marks the first collaboration of Anirudh with Vijay and A. R. Murugadoss. He composed the film's theme music before signing the project, and started recording the album in late-2013 which was continued till September 2014.

The plot revolves around three financially struggling men try to overcome their problems, by getting involved in criminal activities though not realising the impact their efforts are having on the women in their lives.
Jil Jung Juk is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language neo-Western post-apocalyptic black comedy film written and directed by debutant Deeraj Vaidy, who also co-wrote the script with Mohan Ramakrishnan. Siddharth produced the film under Etaki Entertainment banner, and also starred alongside Avinash Raghudevan and Sananth Reddy, playing the titular characters. In the film, Jil, Jung and Juk are assigned by a dreadful drug lord to transport drugs, where they faces struggles during their journey. The film explores the themes of butterfly effect, post-apocalyptic and futuristic fiction.

180 is the soundtrack to the 2011 film of the same name starring Siddharth, Nithya Menen, Priya Anand and directed by Jayendra Panchapakesan in his feature directorial debut. The film featured music composed by Sharreth, known for his compositions in Malayalam films, and had seven songs written by Madhan Karky and Viveka in Tamil, and Vanamali in Telugu. The soundtrack, which was distributed by Think Music, a subsidiary of the Indian multiplex chain Sathyam Cinemas, released on 14 April 2011 at a launch event in Chennai, while the Telugu version was unveiled a week later. The soundtrack met with positive response from critics and audience, particularly the song "Nee Korinaal", receiving nominations for Best Lyricist for Karky, and Best Female Playback Singer for Shweta Mohan at the 59th Filmfare Awards South.
