The 2004 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad and also known as Athens 2004, were an international multi-sport event held from 13 to 29 August 2004 in Athens, Greece. The Games saw 10,625 athletes compete, some 600 more than expected, accompanied by 5,501 team officials from 201 countries, with 301 medal events in 28 different sports. The 2004 Games marked the first time since the 1996 Summer Olympics that all countries with a National Olympic Committee were in attendance, and also marked the first time Athens hosted the Games since their first modern incarnation in 1896 as well as the return of the Olympic games to its birthplace. Athens became one of only four cities at the time to have hosted the Summer Olympic Games on two occasions. A new medal obverse was introduced at these Games, replacing the design by Giuseppe Cassioli that had been used since 1928. The new design features the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens rectifying the long-running mistake of using a depiction of the Roman Colosseum rather than a Greek venue. The 2004 Games was the first of two consecutive Olympic games to be held in Southern Europe since the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, and was followed by the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.

The Olympic Athletic Center of Athens Spiros Louis or OACA (OAKA)), is a sport facilities complex located at Marousi, in the north section of the city. The complex consists of five major venues as well as other supplementary sport facilities.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ano Liosia Olympic Hall</span>

Ano Liosia Olympic Hall is a multi-purpose and multi-sport indoor arena that is located in Ano Liosia, in west section of Athens, Greece. The arena was mainly used to host various martial arts tournaments but from 2021 it is used by AEK B.C. for its home games in the Greek Basket League and the Basketball Champions League. The arena's seating capacity for sporting events is 8,327 in permanent tier seating and 9,327 with the collapsible tiers of seating.

The Olympic Stadium of Athens "Spyros Louis" is a sports stadium in Marousi, in the north section of Athens, Greece. With a total capacity of 75,000, it is the largest sports venue in Greece. It is a part of the Athens Olympic Sports Complex (OAKA) and is named after the first modern Olympic marathon gold medalist in 1896, Spyros Louis. It is owned and operated by the Hellenic Olympic Committee. The stadium served as the main stadium during the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2004 Summer Paralympics, including the opening and closing ceremonies.

The O.A.C.A. Olympic Indoor Hall, Nikos Galis Olympic Indoor Hall which is a part of the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (O.A.C.A.) «Spyros Louis», was completed in 1994, and is the largest indoor venue in Greece and was used for sporting events at the 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens, Greece. It is located in Marousi, in the north section of the city. During their construction and renovations was considered to be one of the biggest and most modern indoor sports arenas in all of Europe.

Maroussi Saint Thomas Indoor Hall, or Maroussi Agios Thomas Indoor Hall, is an indoor sporting arena that is located in Marousi, Greece. The arena is only about 500 m (1,600 ft) away from the Athens Olympic Sports Complex, which is also known as the OAKA, and the Nikos Galis Olympic Indoor Hall. The arena is primarily used to host basketball games. The indoor hall is owned by the municipality of Maroussi. The seating capacity of the indoor basketball arena is 1,700 people.

The Acropolis International Tournament 2019 is a basketball tournament held in OAKA Olympic Indoor Hall in Athens, Greece, from August 16 until August 18, 2019. It was the 29th edition of the Acropolis International Basketball Tournament. The competition is played under FIBA rules as a round-robin tournament. The four participating teams were Greece, Italy, Serbia, and Turkey.

Giannis Bourousis Karditsa Municipal Indoor Sports Hall, or Giannis Bourousis Karditsa Municipal Indoor Sports Arena, is a multi-purpose and multi-sport indoor arena that is located in the Agia Paraskevi neighborhood of Karditsa, Thessaly, Greece. The arena can be used to host cultural events, concerts and handball, volleyball, and basketball games. It is mainly used to host basketball games.

The Greek Basket League Hall of Fame, or Hellenic Basketball Association (HEBA) Hall of Fame, is a hall of fame that recognizes and honors the best basketball players and head coaches in the history of Greece's top-tier level professional club league, the Greek Basket League. Players and head coaches are nominated for the honor, by the governing body of the Greek Basket League, the Hellenic Basketball Association (HEBA).
