Valentino Rossi is an Italian nine-time Grand Prix world champion - seven of which are in the premier MotoGP class. Rossi raced for Honda's factory team, Yamaha's factory team and Ducati's factory team. Rossi is also the only road racer to have competed in 400 or more Grands Prix. [1] He has ridden with number 46 his entire career, also when being the title defender. Rossi is one of four riders to have won world championship titles in three different categories, after Mike Hailwood, Phil Read and Marc Márquez.

Rossi won the 1997 125cc World Championship, the 1999 250cc World Championship, the 2001 500cc World Championship, and the 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2009 MotoGP World Championships.

His 115 Grand Prix victories are the second highest of all time. His most successful circuit are Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and TT Circuit Assen where he has won ten times. Rossi's largest margin of victory was at the 2002 Portuguese Grand Prix, and the smallest margin of victory was at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix when he beat Max Biaggi by 0.013 seconds in the race.

    Valentino Rossi Italian former motorcycle racer (born 1979)

    Valentino Rossi is an Italian former professional motorcycle road racer and nine-time Grand Prix motorcycle racing World Champion. He won premier class World Championships with both Honda and Yamaha. Nicknamed The Doctor, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest motorcycle racers of all time, with nine Grand Prix World Championships to his name, seven of which were in the premier 500cc/MotoGP class. He is also the only road racer to have competed in 400 or more Grands Prix, and rode with the number 46 for his entire career. He had previously requested that the race number continues to be used in upcoming seasons, and not retired.

    Nicky Hayden American motorcycle racer

    Nicholas Patrick Hayden, nicknamed "The Kentucky Kid", was an American professional motorcycle racer who won the MotoGP World Championship in 2006. Hayden began racing motorcycles at a young age. He began his road racing career in the CMRA before progressing to the AMA Supersport Championship and then to the AMA Superbike Championship. He won the AMA title in 2002 and was approached by the Repsol Honda team to race for them in MotoGP in 2003.

    Sete Gibernau Spanish motorcycle racer

    Manuel "Sete" Gibernau Bultó is a Spanish former professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer who is a 9-time 500cc/MotoGP race winner and a two-time overall runner-up in 2003 and 2004. His racing career spans three different eras of motorcycle racing, beginning with the two-stroke-dominated period prior to the 2002 season, and the four-stroke MotoGP era. He returned to racing in 2019 to compete in the electric-powered MotoE World Cup. Gibernau was one of the top riders in Grand Prix racing at the beginning of the MotoGP era.

    Max Biaggi Italian motorcycle racer

    Massimiliano "Max" Biaggi is an Italian retired professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer who is a 13-time Premier Class race winner. He is a 4-time 250 cc World Champion, 2-time World Superbike Champion and 3-time runner-up in the Premier Class in 1998, 2001 and 2002.

    Sebastián Porto is an Argentine professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He currently races in the Brazilian Moto 1000 GP Championship aboard a BMW S1000RR.

    Jorge Lorenzo Spanish former motorcycle racer

    Jorge Lorenzo Guerrero is a Spanish retired professional motorcycle racer, and a three-time MotoGP World Champion, in 2010, 2012 and 2015 as well as a two-time 250cc World Champion in 2006 and 2007 making him a 5 time World Champion.

    Àlex Crivillé Spanish motorcycle racer

    Àlex Crivillé Tapias is a Spanish former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. In 1992 he became the first Spaniard to win a 500cc Grand Prix and, in 1999 he became the first Spaniard to win the 500cc World Championship.

    2001 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season Sports season

    The 2001 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 53rd F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season.

    The 2002 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 54th Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Road Racing World Championship season. The season consist of 16 races, which started with the Japanese Grand Prix on 7 April and ended with the Valencian Community Grand Prix on 3 November.

    Andrea Dovizioso Italian motorcycle racer

    Andrea Dovizioso is an Italian professional motorcycle racer who is the 2004 125 cc World Champion. He is best known for his time with the Ducati Team in the MotoGP class, finishing championship runner-up to Marc Marquez for three consecutive seasons in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Dovizioso is one of the most successful modern MotoGP riders with 15 MotoGP victories and 62 podiums. He races for WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP Team for the 2022 season.

    Marco Simoncelli Italian motorcycle racer

    Marco Simoncelli, nicknamed Sic, was an Italian professional motorcycle racer. He competed in the MotoGP World Championship for 10 years from 2002 to 2011. He started in the 125cc class before moving up to the 250cc class in 2006. He won the 2008 250cc World Championship with Gilera. After four years in the intermediate class, he stepped up to the top MotoGP class in 2010, racing with the Honda Gresini Team. He died in an accident at the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang.

    Pol Espargaró Spanish motorcycle racer

    Pol Espargaró Villà is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer in the MotoGP class for the Repsol Honda Factory Team. Pol is the younger brother of Aleix Espargaró, and is best known for winning the 2013 Moto2 World Championship. This earned him a move to Monster Yamaha Tech 3 in 2014 but had 3 largely unsuccessful seasons failing to score a single podium.

    Marc Márquez Spanish motorcycle racer

    Marc Márquez Alentà is a Spanish professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer, who has raced for Honda's factory team since his MotoGP debut in 2013. Born in Cervera, Catalonia, Spain, he is nicknamed the 'Ant of Cervera' worldwide, and 'el tro de Cervera' in his hometown, meaning the 'Thunder of Cervera'. He is one of four riders to have won world championship titles in three different categories, after Mike Hailwood, Phil Read and Valentino Rossi, and is one of the most successful motorcycle racers of all time, with eight Grand Prix World Championships to his name, six of which are in the premier class. Márquez became the third Spaniard after Àlex Crivillé and Jorge Lorenzo to win the premier class title, and is the most successful Spanish rider in MotoGP to date, with 59 wins. In 2013 he became the first rider since Kenny Roberts in 1978 to win the premier class title in his first season, and the youngest to win the title overall, at 20 years and 266 days of age.

    Michele Pirro Italian motorcycle racer

    Michele Pio Pirro is a motorcycle road racer from Italy, who competes in the CIV (Italian) Superbike Championship aboard a Ducati Panigale V4 R. He is a test rider for Ducati factory racing in MotoGP and rides occasionally as a wildcard.

    The 2016 Dutch TT was the eighth round of the 2016 MotoGP season. It was held at the TT Circuit Assen in Assen on 26 June 2016.

    2020 MotoGP World Championship 72nd running of the MotoGP World Championship

    The 2020 FIM MotoGP World Championship was the premier class of the 72nd F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season.

    2021 MotoGP World Championship 73rd running of the MotoGP World Championship

    The 2021 FIM MotoGP World Championship was the premier class of the 73rd F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. Fabio Quartararo won his first world title, with five race wins ahead of securing the title in the third last race of the season. Quartararo became the first ever Frenchman to win the premier class title, which was also the first title for a non-Spanish rider since Australian Casey Stoner in 2011. The season also saw Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martín win their first premier class races. In the overall standings, Bagnaia secured second place and reigning champion Joan Mir secured third place, while Martín was named rookie of the year. Ducati secured the constructors' championship for the second consecutive season and the teams' championship for the first time since 2007. In total, eight different riders won Grands Prix during the season.
