Teleorman County is a county (județ) of Romania on the border with Bulgaria, in the historical region Muntenia, with its capital city at Alexandria.
Mehedinți County is a county of Romania on the border with Serbia and Bulgaria. It is mostly located in the historical province of Oltenia, with one municipality (Orșova) and three communes located in the Banat. The county seat is Drobeta-Turnu Severin.
Drobeta-Turnu Severin, colloquially Severin, is a city in Mehedinți County, Oltenia, Romania, on the northern bank of the Danube, close to the Iron Gates. "Drobeta" is the name of the ancient Dacian and Roman towns at the site, and the modern town of Turnu Severin received the additional name of Drobeta during Nicolae Ceaușescu's national-communist dictatorship as part of his myth-making efforts.
Turnu Măgurele is a city in Teleorman County, Romania, in the historical region of Muntenia. Developed nearby the site once occupied by the medieval port of Turnu, it is situated north-east of the confluence between the Olt River and the Danube, at the edge of the Wallachian Plain.
The Olt is a river in Romania. It is 615 km (382 mi) long, and its basin area is 24,050 km2 (9,290 sq mi). It is the longest river flowing exclusively through Romania. Its average discharge at the mouth is 174 m3/s (6,100 cu ft/s). It originates in the Hășmaș Mountains of the eastern Carpathian Mountains, near Bălan, rising close to the headwaters of the river Mureș. The Olt flows through the Romanian counties of Harghita, Covasna, Brașov, Sibiu, Vâlcea, and Olt. The river was known as Alutus or Aluta in Roman antiquity. Olt County and the historical province of Oltenia are named after the river.
Pecica is a town in Arad County, western Romania. In ancient times it was a Dacian fortress called Ziridava and today it is an important archeological site. Situated at 25 kilometres (16 mi) from Arad, it was declared a town in 2004. Its administrative territory extends into the Arad Plateau. The town administers three villages: Bodrogu Vechi (Óbodrog), Sederhat (Szederhát) and Turnu (Tornya).
The Drobeta-Turnu Severin Municipal Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania. The stadium holds 20,054 people all on seats and is used mostly for football matches.
The Proclamation of Islaz was the program adopted on 9 June 1848 by Romanian revolutionaries during the Wallachian Revolution of 1848. It was written by Ion Heliade Rădulescu and publicly read at the small port town of Islaz in southern Wallachia. On 11 June, under pressure from the masses, Domnitor Gheorghe Bibescu was forced to accept the terms of the proclamation and recognise the provisional revolutionary government.

Turnu Ruieni is a commune in Caraș-Severin County, western Romania with a population of 3663 people. It is composed of six villages: Borlova (Borló), Cicleni (Csiklény), Dalci (Dálcs), Turnu Ruieni, Zervești (Szervesd) and Zlagna (Szalakna). Turnu Ruieni is situated in the historical region of Banat.

Clubul Sportiv Turnu Severin was a Romanian professional football club from Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Mehedinți County, founded in 2007 and dissolved in 2013. In 2012, the team promoted to the Liga I for the first time in their short history. After just one year of top football it relegated and was dissolved.

Club Sportiv CFR Turnu Severin 1943, commonly known as CFR Turnu Severin, is a football club based in Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Romania. It was founded in 1928 and it won one Romanian Cup in 1943. The club was dissolved in 1958, but was re-founded in 2018 and since 2022 has active teams enrolled in the Mehedinți County Leagues.
The Turnu oil field is an oil field located in Pecica, Arad County. It was discovered in 1964 and developed by Petrom. It began production in 1965 and produces oil. The total proven reserves of the Turnu oil field are around 51 million barrels (7×106tonnes), and production is centered on 2,000 barrels per day (320 m3/d).
Drobeta is a genus of moths of the family Noctuidae, named after ancient Drobeta.
The Turnu Măgurele Municipal Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Turnu Măgurele, Romania. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Cetatea Turnu Măgurele and temporary of CSM Alexandria. The stadium holds 2,000 people. Between 2017 and 2018 the stadium was completely renovated with an investment of 3 million€.
