Philippolis is a town in the Free State province of South Africa. The town is the birthplace of many South African celebrities including the writer and intellectual Sir Laurens van der Post, actress Brümilda van Rensburg and Springboks rugby player Adriaan Strauss. It is regarded as one of the first colonial settlements in the Free State.
Troyeville is a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is a small suburb found on the eastern edge of the Johannesburg central business district (CBD), with the suburbs of New Doornfontein, Bertrams and Lorentzville to the north, Fairview to the south and Kensington to its east. The main road through the suburb is Albertina Sisulu, has its eastern end in the suburb and connects the CBD to Johannesburg's eastern suburbs and towns of the East Rand. It is located in Region F of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality.

Bodmin Jail is a historic former prison situated in Bodmin, on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. Built in 1779 and closed in 1927, a large range of buildings fell into ruin, but parts of the prison have been turned into a tourist attraction, and more recently another large part was converted into a hotel.
Barnstable's Old Gaol is a historic colonial jail in Barnstable, Massachusetts. Built c.1690, it is the oldest wooden jail in the United States of America.

Waitomo Caves Hotel is a historic hotel built in 1908 that is located in Waitomo District, King Country above Waitomo Caves in New Zealand. The hotel initially had only six bedrooms, and was later expanded in 1927–1928 with the addition of 24 more rooms, along with a new kitchen and dining room. The building is famous for its unique style of New Zealand Victorian. Some claim that the hotel is haunted.
Erasmus Castle, also known as "Die Spookhuis" or "The Haunted House", is an imposing mansion situated on a hill in the Erasmuskloof suburb of Pretoria, South Africa. Originally owned by George Dean Erasmus, it is a unique landmark in the city and rumours of ghosts and supernatural encounters in and around the residence are plentiful. Though the house and its grounds are privately owned by Armscor, public tours or cultural gatherings at the premises can be arranged. The mansion is said to be haunted, and paranormal activity is claimed to include lit windows in the uninhabited mansion, encounters with Dean Erasmus, and hearing disturbing moans at night.
Knock Knock Ghost is a Canadian reality television series, which premiered on OutTV in 2015. Hosted by comedian Richard Ryder, the series features Ryder and actor Brie Doyle, as well as a psychic medium. The group travels to various locations across Canada which are purported to be haunted and conducts experiments to test whether it is possible to prove or disprove the existence of the afterlife.
