Istanbul Technical University also known as Technical University of Istanbul is an international technical university located in Istanbul, Turkey. It is the world's third-oldest technical university dedicated to engineering and natural sciences as well as social sciences recently, and is one of the most prominent educational institutions in Turkey. ITU is ranked 108th worldwide in the field of "Engineering & Technology", and 255th worldwide in the field of "Natural Sciences" by the QS World University Rankings in 2023. The university has 92 undergraduate programs and 188 graduate programs in 14 faculties, 277,160 m2 of laboratory space, and 12 research centers.
Aykut Kocaman is a former Turkish footballer, who played as a striker. He is the former manager of İstanbul Başakşehir. Before he made his debut 1980 with the amateur club Kabataş Altınmızrak in Istanbul, Kocaman performed gymnastics at the club Eczacıbaşı, winning 40 medals and reaching second place at the national level. 1984, he moved to Sakaryaspor in Adapazarı, Sakarya and turned professional. In 1988, Kocaman signed a contract with Fenerbahçe, where he played and contributed much to the success of his club until he was transferred to Istanbulspor in 1996.
Karadeniz Technical University is a public research university in Trabzon, in the Black Sea Region of Turkey. Established in 1955, it is the fourth oldest university in Turkey. Karadeniz Technical University is a state university institution subject to the Law No. 2547 on Higher Education in Turkey. It is supported mainly by state funds allocated by the Turkish Parliament.
Bahçeşehir University (BAU) is a private educational institution in Turkey, located around the Bosporus in Istanbul. The Turkish National Assembly authorized the establishment of the University of Bahçeşehir by the Bahçeşehir Uğur Education Foundation in 1998. An academic and strategic protocol was signed shortly after with San Diego State University in California, USA. The enrollment of the first students was made after the first placement exam (ÖSYS) in the 1999–2000 academic year. The university is one of the few universities in Turkey which has its lectures in English and therefore students applying to BAU are required to have high English proficiency.
Ali Mehmet Celâl Şengör is a Turkish geologist. He is retired from the faculty at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Geological Engineering.

ITU School of Architecture, is the first institution in Ottoman Empire that educate students about architecture. Department of Architecture is substantially equivalent to the programs in the United States. Famous architectures such as Ord. The ITU Mustafa Inan Library was a printing house was established in 1795 at the first engineering school ever to be opened in Halıcıoğlu under the name of Mühendishane-i Berri Hümayun. The books published here constituted the core of the ITU Library. ITU libraries, located in Maslak campus, Istanbul, have approximately 500,000 volumes of books periodicals, and dissertations. The number of subscription periodicals is 1,300. A part of the library is open 7 day/24 hours. There are libraries in other campuses of ITU: Ratip Berker Library in School of Mechanical engineering, Macka library, Taskisla library and Tuzla library. In addition to these general purpose libraries there is a music library in Macka campus for Turkish Music State Conservatory.
ITU School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, founded in 1983, is the 11th school of Istanbul Technical University. Three departments were engaged to the faculty, which are Aeronautical Engineering, Astronautical engineering, and Meteorological Engineering. Aeronautical Engineering Department was established as a branch training aeronautical engineers in the Mechanical Engineering Faculty in 1941, and then in 1944 became a department of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty. Meteorological Engineering Department was established in 1953 in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. It is the only Meteorological Engineering department in Turkey.
İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi B.K., commonly abbreviated as İTÜ BK or simply İTÜ, is a Turkish professional basketball club that is based in Istanbul, Turkey. It is one of the most successful clubs in the history of the Turkish Basketball League, having won the league championship five times. Their home arena is the ITU Ayazaga Sports Center in Istanbul Technical University's Maslak campus.
ITU Maritime Faculty is a faculty of the Istanbul Technical University in Turkey, which is dedicated to maritime science and technology.
Istanbul Pride is a pride parade and LGBT demonstration held annually in Turkey's biggest city, Istanbul since 2003. Participants assemble in Taksim Square before marching the entire length of İstiklal Avenue. It has been described as the first and biggest LGBT event in Muslim-majority countries.
Istanbul Technical University Robot Olympics (ITURO) is a robotic organization consisting competitions, seminars, colloquies, panel discussions, exhibitions and workshops that has been hosted by Istanbul Technical University Control and Automation Student Society since 2007. The three-day organization ITURO is organized at ITU Suleyman Demirel Cultural Center in Ayazağa Campus in every spring. In 2015, there were ten categories and the categories are being updated every year. Also, by the participation of experienced academics and industrial representatives, topics related to robotics and technology become discussed in both national and international manner.
Hitit Computer Services is a travel technology company that provides commercial and operational IT systems for the airline and travel industry. It is headquartered in the ITU Arı Technopolis science park on the campus of Istanbul Technical University. Hitit is publicly listed at the Borsa Istanbul stock exchange since March 2022.
Burak Özçivit is a Turkish actor and model who is best known for his roles in Çalıkuşu (2013–2014) and Kara Sevda (2015–2017). He is currently starring as Osman Bey in the history-based, adventure series Kuruluş: Osman (2019–present). Throughout his acting career Özçivit has been a recipient of numerous accolades.
Taşkışla is neighborhood and building complex in Istanbul. It takes its name Stone Barracks from its use as a military establishment in the Ottoman period also known as Mecidiye Kışlası. It is located in close proximity to Beyoğlu and home to the Architecture faculty of the Istanbul Technical University and today serves as a terminus for the Maçka Gondola cable car line.
UBAKUSAT was a Turkish nanosatellite that was developed by Istanbul Technical University. It was launched into space on board a Falcon-9 rocket in April 2018 and was deployed into its orbit from the International Space Station in May 2018. It was built as a technology demonstration and Earth observation satellite to provide voice communications for amateur radio stations around the world. It carried an experimental card, TAMSAT Simplesat, which allowed scientists to test its accuracy of measuring radiation from space. It was the fifth satellite to be built by students of Istanbul Technical University.
